Think gaming is a waste of time and will lead you nowhere in life? Well, you’re probably right, because unless you have the skills to pay the bills, you might as well keep on playing for fun. But if you do have a fast mouse hand and happen to be rather adept at DOTA 2, then the annual International is where it’s at.
This year, the DOTA 2 International kicks off in Seattle, dumping August like a cheap date and settling for the far more stable July 18-21 calendar bracket of the year. The International will also be changing venues this year, as teams from around the world will compete at the KeyArena for the $1 million grand prize.
So far, I blame my mom for making me study and not play video games, as I wish I had the skill to challenge the best in the world for that pot. Oh, the things that I could do with a million dollars. Like rub it in the face of teachers who were right about me.
Planning on attending the event? Well get your plane tickets ready then. General admission will cost you $99 according to the DOTA 2 blog, with floor seats going for $199 and a VIP package setting you back $499 for six days of access, meet and greet sessions and after parties. Dayumn.
Last year, Alliance walked off with the main prize, defeating Natus Vincere to clinch victory. This year, eleven teams will get a direct invite, with four regional qualifiers filling up the rest of the roster with winners from May 12th through the 25th.

I always wondered though. Why do people click so much when playing dota. I mean even when you’re just walking in the lane, the lane is straight yet some click probably about fifty times in different spots in the same straight lane..

keeping your APM up/constant makes for faster reactions.
walking specific paths to dodge spells like hook, potm arrow & sunstrike etc.
constantly changing our minds, like constantly.
some people play with auto attack on, so moving is the only way to control last hitting.
but mostly just because.

Initially for me it was just because. Now it’s to always be moving. Able to react quicker to anything that happens, because shit can hit the fan pretty damn quickly in dota.

Dendi’s got a high APM and everyone wants to be like him thats why they do it. Its stands for Actions Per Minute and started with Starcraft 1 where some top pro players did it in South Korea and after a while they used it to measure skill because for some reason they believe the more you click your mouse the better you are.
People thinks it makes them more leet but to be honest the reaction time argument that all this kids give is bullshit. They don’t know why they do it and latch onto the only excuse there is “its makes my reaction faster” no it does not your reaction time is exactly the same.
All they are doing is breaking their mouse and inducing the decline towards Repetitive Strain Disorder.
