Dragon Ball Xenoverse beta announced

Just what is Dragon Ball Xenoverse? To be fair, I’m not entirely certain myself, but I’m going to hazard a guess and claim that it will have a mode where you have to use a quick-time event to change a light bulb. You only need one character to do so, but it’ll take you upwards of nine episodes to put a new bulb in. Ha! While you’re pelting me with fresh produce, here are some details on how to get your Dragon action on, a little bit early.

For reals though, Dragon Ball Xenoverse is pretty much the proper next generation debut of that franchise. Here’s a trailer showing off the shiny new visuals, with a minimum of screaming:

Keen to give it a bash and find out if the new-gen version finally has an overhauled control scheme to go with that alternate timeline action? Well you can sign up here for the network test beta. You can also hope that the download isn’t too big, because that test will only occur from October 4 at 12:00 GMT to October 5 12:00 GMT. Top Tip: Bursting a vein and screaming at your TV won’t help, but it sure as hell will be entertaining for me.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse also includes a custom character creator mode. Which is rad, because I’ve always wanted to beat the snot out of Freezer Fridge Frieza with a character that can only be described as an abomination. The game is out next year…sometime.

I know everything is still the same except for a new character that will influence all the same old stories somehow. How’s about creating a game after all the sagas? New story please

          budokai or ultimate tenkaichi?
i found that all the games that have used that free movement scheme are terrible.

I want the regular and straightforward Budokai 4.

You got that already with DBZ Burst Limit. (;-_-)

uses the same free movement thing thats been used in recent games and that naruto game aswell.
    that is game ruining stuff.

custom character creation isnt a new thing to the DBZ universe either, theyv used various methods to bring it it, alternate realities, time travel, teleporting themselves into games.

custom characters are cool and all, I’d totes be down for this if the free movement thing wasnt there and they went back to the traditional fighter scheme.

The traditional fighter scheme is too limited to express Dragon Ball Z. It’s like trying to squeeze Halo 5 in to Resident Evil 2’s gameplay mechanics (I love RE2, but it would be a terrible way to represent Halo’s large scale epic-ness)

The past Dragon Ball games on the PS3 and 360 have been awful, but not because of the free movement, but bad execution of it and everything else along with it.

The game that did the free movement thing and high speed fighting the best was Dragon Ball Z Legends on the Sega Saturn. Best 2d sidescrolling traditional fighting game of DBZ I think was DBZ Boutuden 3 (Legends was still the best Dragon Ball Z fighting simulator though, Boutuden is for people who just want a fighting game with DBZ characters)

I feel like a kid again, new DBZ game is being released, new DBZ (animated) movies are being made, the last piece of the puzzle is a line of DBZ poseable figures.

    Wait….WHAT!!!!
