DreamWorks & Paramount pick HD DVD over Blu-Ray

In a major win for HD-DVD, Dreamworks and Paramount have agreed to exclusively distribute on HD-DVD only….

Now I don’t know about you but if I walked into my video store and they didn’t have the  next big animation blockbuster because they had signed an exclusivity deal with Blu-Ray I would be mightily upset…

I wonder how long the Blockbuster execs are going to continue their Blu-Ray only stance for now?

ya… I honestly think that giving people the run about like this will leave them feeling head sore… neither will win, I mean, I’m every happy that the ps3 has blu-ray ONLY FOR GAMES… and thats it… it just adds longevity to the console… but i’m more happy that it does great upscaling as that is a BIG winner for me and my 5 year dvd collection…

Solution: buy a PS3 and a XBox. Have the best of both worlds!
Kinda like that Albany bread in the light blue packet!

Well on the bright side the multiformat players will be out soon. Guess those with PS3s might be bummed. BUt for everyone else, a player that played HD-DVD, Blu-Ray and upscales DVDs is going to become commonplace if HD actually catched on.

I agree with AlteredState. Having both consoles is the way to go. One for games and the other for movies… which hopefully will start arriving more often!

Yeah but if you get a 360 you won’t be able to use it to play HD DVDs, you need to buy the HD DVD addon for that.

OH YEAH! well well! at least once you’ve burnt a hole through your Blu-ray player we don’t have to get an ENTIRE NEW CONSOLE! haha *Down you noisy fan boi! down I SAY!!* I did hear that Blu-ray can play both formats though… so what’s the need for a multiplatform player?

The PS3 only plays BR. HD-DVD is a different laser.
