Dying Light’s getting an “Enhanced Edition”

Dying Light is one of my favourite games from this generation so far. A supremely polished experience, it showed that developer Techland was capable of delivering on the promises they made with Dead Island. Dying Light was essentially that promise made whole, and was some of the best fun I’ve had in a game (save for the end bits, which were just torturous).

We already know that the game is getting a fully fledged expansion in The Following, which adds a new area, new weapons, new narratives, a vehicle and probably a million new Easter eggs – but the game is also being re-released as an enhanced version, which makes the game even better.

According to the developer, here’s a quick list of the sort of changes that are coming to the “enhanced” version.

  • Legend System
  • Nightmare Difficulty
  • Bounties System
  • New Parkour Moves
  • New Enemy Attacks & Behaviors
  • #DrinkForDLC Content
  • New NPC Models
  • Enhanced Facial Expressions
  • Improved Human Enemy AI
  • Improved Volatile AI
  • Greater Firearm Variety
  • HUD and Video Filter Customizations
  • Audio Upgrades

Some of that sounds a bit vague and wishy-washy; Audio Upgrades? Okay then! Still, better AI is welcome, and better facial expressions and a few more NPC models is all welcome stuff.

The game will be sold for regular retail price, but will include all of the game’s DLC, including the aforementioned The Following expansion pack.

“We didn’t want to follow a beaten track and just re-release our game in a new wrapping with the current DLC added on,” lead game designer Maciej Binkowski said in a statement. “That’s why for the last half year we’ve been working on a ton of enhancements that we’re now going to make available to everyone. We’re adding bonus post-game content, a Nightmare difficulty level, nearly 100 new animations, new NPC models, advanced AI behaviors, and more. One year after the original release, Dying Light will be even bigger.”

The Enhanced Edition will be coming in February next year, on the same day that The Following is released. Those who already own Dying Light will get the enhancements added to their game via patch, too. If you haven’t played the game, I really can’t recommend it enough, especially in co-op.

So we are remastering new gen games now??? Count me out! 2015 was made infinitely better over the weekend when I saw that Full Throttle is being remade for PC and the PS4.
When I was 15 and in a hostel with 80 other boys one guy had Full Throttle, so we would stay awake after lights out to play the game. Some of the best memories from school! Still play the game at least once a year.

So they’re re-releasing the game with all of the content provided from the start, but at normal retail price… That’s a little stiff….

Never fell for the hype of Dying light… Maybe if it had campaign I’d actually give a damn..

Well, it’s a really good game, with about 40 hours of campaign time, a mirrors’ edge esque free runner style gameplay and a QTE end, I’d recommend it to anyone that enjoys slashing zombies, it really was a stand out game from last year, a highly enjoyable one at that! (But that full retail price though…)

I read the “campaign” exists mostly out of fetch quests… Didn’t that get repetitive after a while? I’d loose my mind. Thats what happened to me in MGS V after a while.

What made it interesting was that even though they were mostly fetch quests, every time you did a quest it’d be slightly different, the parkour element is really good, game changing good actually…MGSV made me cringe too… after having to extract resources and soldiers for the umpteenth time it got a little annoying…

No, it includes the full $20 The Following expansion too – plus all the DLC, season pass content.

Aah, ok, so if you manage to pick it up as a pre-played version you should be paying about the same… Still a good deal, I think.

Co-op huh? Does that mean I have to go out there and make a friend? The visuals on this game really screams at me to go get it. And yet, pretty visuals doth not a fun game make!

    2 things…
I’m really sorry I have not given this game a go yet. I love zombie games and this looks epic!

Now, why the hell is Vaas, from FC3, “this is sparta” kicking a zombie?

Does it remove the insane repetition of every quest?

Sorry but this game was super boring, I dont see how an enhanced edition will make any difference.
