Dying light’s getting free difficulty DLC

DyingLight

If you’re still waiting for the local release of the physical version of Techland’s flawed but fun open-world zombie apocalypse simulator, it’ll be out here in two weeks. It’s some of the most fun I’ve had with a game in a while, because like the criminally underrated Wii U exclusive ZombiU, it makes the undead terrifying again. And soon, it’ll be even scarier.

The game’s getting a new hard mode as DLC – and best of all, it’ll be free. Yes, things like difficulty levels should always be free, but when games like The Last of Us and Metro: Last Light get away with charging for increased difficulty, you could easily imagine others doing the same.

Echoing the mod that makes the game tougher, Techland will be giving the game an official extra layer of difficulty. Coming free as part of an upcoming content update, Dying Light’s increased difficulty level will make the night even scarier, reduce the availability of resources and make enemies tougher.

“We’re going to give our community a new challenge that will put everything they learnt in the game to the test. Hard Mode is exactly that,” producer Tymon Smektala says.

“We’re aiming to have it out around the start of March, if not sooner. Depends on how brutal we wanna make this on people.”

All I have to say to that is : NOPE.

Techland recently revealed the game’s season pass content – which is almost entirely pointless for those of us who’ve been waiting for the physical release; two thirds of that content is being given away free as apologetic pre-order incentives.

When I was a kid, games came with different difficulty levels by default, and you could choose between them from day one.

This DLC culture is getting out of hand. It’s seems everybody wants something in the premise of added support and something new for the games they have bought. But these DLC obsessed people don’t seems to see what they are losing in the process of supporting DLC. They losing the whole fucking game to DLC and still paying the whole fucking price for the games.

Back in the day we got expansion packs. They made the games and then they added tons of content, missions, story, music, skins, ect.

Today with DLC, they make the game then cut out content and sell you shit that should have been in the game already. Pre-order incentive, day 1 DLC. Evil.

Don’t Support this DLC culture. Don’t Support DRM.
