Ninja Theory, previously responsible for the Playstation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, have been quietly working away at a brand new multi-platform third person adventure.
I have had some hands-on time with the E3 demo, so hit the jump to read all about it.
Enslaved can be categorised as a third-person action adventure. In many ways, the game will remind you of the uncharted series, mostly due to a few visual similarities with the presentation. Now as most of you know, Uncharted 2 really isn’t the worst looking game in the world, so saying that a game looks very similar is nothing but a pure compliment.
From what I played on the showroom floor, I can tell you that Enslaved is a mixture of adventure/puzzle platforming and close combat. Again, there is a similar feeling to Uncharted or Tomb Raider as far as the platforming is concerned, with your character often needing to traverse areas via ledges, poles and so on. You also have to work together with a female character that is involved in the story with you, often having to lift her up
The camera alternates between a third person view and set cameras that switch depending on the area that you are in. While I did not get to experience much of the combat at all, the character had the usual assortment of close combat attacks, as well as dodging moves and will also have ranged weapons, but again, I was not able to give that a try.
I left my play-time with Enslaved impressed, the game has beautiful visuals, the gameplay is fun and engaging and it has a slick overall feeling that will ensure that I keep my eye on it. It really looks like it has potential to be really good, so let’s hope that when the final game releases it lives up to the expectations that arose from todays play session.
