The EA 2011 E3 Press Conference took place yesterday at the incredibly gorgeous Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Our live blog yesterday called it as it happened, but for those of you who missed out on the information and also want to get their eyeballs onto the new live gameplay footage, trailers and video, this is the place to be.

Hit the jump for the EA press conference round-up, complete with videos.

EA kicked off the event with one of their biggest franchises at present, especially now that it’s gone multiplatform. That’s right, we mean Mass Effect 3 from Bioware. We finally got to see live gameplay demoed that showed Sheppard being a total bad-ass in much bigger environments than usual.

Mass Effect 3 – looking damn fine and set with a final release date of March 6, 2012. New trailer unveiled – Mass Effect 3: Fall of Earth.

EA’s John Riccitiello then came up on stage to take a quick stab at Microsoft, before talking about Origin.com – the new online EA service that serves as a hub for content and media as well as a digital distribution platform. I wouldn’t be able to get through this without mentioning the fact that it’s an awful lot like Steam, so there, I did it. It’s available for download now at Origin.com.

Next up, a rather unexpected turn.

EA shows off their latest Need for Speed title, NFS: The Run and while the initial concept shows off something similar to a cross country event like the Gumball or Cannonball Runs, they announced the the game won’t only take place in the car, but also on foot.

They then go on to show cinematic sequences that take place after car chases and so on, which has the character running from the cops while the only input needed from the player is for quicktime events.

Does it work? I’m not so sure. The game uses the DICE Frostbite 2 engine and tries to become more of a cinematic, story-based experience rather than just another race. It does look pretty as hell though, make no mistake.

It’s different, I’ll give it that much… and I like the cross-the-country race idea. The quicktime sections looked awkward and out of place, so we will have to see what they do with it before we lay down any judgement. Autolog integration looks fantastic though.
