EA has a long tradition of supporting sports thanks to their EA Sports titles. Those linked to eSports tournaments, with many running for years. However, this year, the focus of MADDEN 17 is definitely even more linked to competitive gaming. This time around, while obviously supporting professional gamers who have established themselves as excellent MADDEN players, EA also wants to “make champions out of all gamers”.
MADDEN 17 is embracing a new approach to competitive gaming – with new competitive modes and weekly challenges. According to Peter Moore, the three competitive modes are:
- Challenger – Community an ability to more easily hosting and running their own tournaments
- Premier – Host with partners inside and outside the gaming world
- EA Major events – Marque EA events on a global stage
ESPN will be showing the tournament live at E3 this week.
MADDEN 17 championship series will span four EA Majors, with a $1 million prize pool as well.
