Boards and All

Well, the Nintendo Press Conference just finished and I can honestly say that it was a bit of a snooze and quite disappointing to be quite honest.

Once all was said and done there was this feeling as though Nintendo would, at any moment, come back on stage, yell “Surprise!” and announce something really crazy. But that never happened. They said their goodbyes, the video feeds stopped and I couldn’t help but feel like I missed something.

Oh well, enough of my negativity (although I feel its justified), let’s take a look at what they announced.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Conference started off rather well when Nintendo had Shawn White ( The famous snowboarder) come on stage and show off the new “Shawn White’s Snowboarding” game that makes use of the Nintendo balance board. It looks quite cool and could be a lot of fun.

Next up, Nintendo announced a surprise for the fans, a new Animal Crossing. While the game announcement was quite welcome, the game seems to be way too similar to it’s previous offerings which will leave many of those who played the previous games, feeling like you haven’t really been presented with anything new, we will have to wait and see.

They did however also announce that the game will include a microphone that sits on top of your TV, aptly titled WiiSpeak, so that could lead to some interesting advancements.

Nintendo then went on to show off a couple of games, most of which we already know about. Star Wars: Clone Wars, Call of Duty 5 and Guitar Hero on tour. Spore Creatures was also announced for DS and looks to have players creating their own creatures and sharing them with friends via WiFi.
