EA is already working on FIFA 16 AND FIFA 17

Football

It may be a yearly game, but FIFA isn’t exactly a game with only a year’s work poured into it, something that Gavin emphasised one night while beating me with a chair leg after I made one Liverpool joke too many. FIFA 15 is on the way, and already, EA is working in advance on not one, but two new successor games for the following seasons of football action.

Not exactly surprising news, but EA is already working on FIFA 16 and 17, before FIFA 15 has even hot shelves. Despite having pretty much the same template year after year and a dedicated team to fine-tune all that footie action without creating too many drastic changes, it still takes time to craft a FIFA game, something which EA’s Peter Moore explained to CVG.

“There are two phases to [development],” Moore said.

There’s the core game itself. We have several hundred people working on that and it’s a staggered development process, so there are already people working on FIFA 16.  I think some people have the misconception that you finish the game and the entire team goes off for two weeks before starting on the next game, which isn’t how it works.

You have parallel development that goes on where you have frontrunners that are thinking about what FIFA 16 is and in some instances FIFA 17 because there are development and engineering and tech decisions that need to be made.

Makes sense. This year’s iteration of that game will have 20 Premier League Grounds, which I suppose is fantastic. I genuinely have no idea. Football! FIFA 15 is out on September 26 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

My digital deluxe pre-order’s just waiting for release. Remember that this year pc users have all the bells and whistles of Ignite AND improvements over the “next-gen” console version. Unless you have one of these ‘magic’ boxes, in which case my point is useless and i…. huh? Okay i’ll leave now….

    Reasons they do this:
