I think any logical and slightly intelligent person can agree that the fact that horror’s, porno’s and drug saturated movies are allowed to be sold in Australia but yet games aimed at the adult population aren’t is a bit of a farce.
Unfortunately most videogame companies have been diplomatic about the draconian censorship rules in Australia and when their games get banned they normally post up something about being disappointed and then head off to alter their game.
EA however have decided enough is enough and have hit back with a comment that can be classed as harsh coming from a mega-corporate like EA.
Tiffany Steckler, an EA spokesperson, has told Gamespot
“It’s funny that a place like Australia, which has come up with some pretty violent material in the past with something like Mad Max, can effectively ban video games for the same reasonâ€
and
“EA believes that adults should have the right to make their own choices when it comes to the content they consumeâ€
She however would not comment on whether or not Valve would be updating the game to bypass the idiotic censorship laws in Australia.
The stupidest part of this entire affair is that Valve can easily remove all the gory parts of L4D2 to get past the censor board and then simply re-enable them as DLC after it’s release.
