The easy, obvious fix for Injustice 2’s level-wiping bug

Injustice2

Injustice 2 is out in South Africa today, and it’s one heck of a fighting game. I’ve never been especially enamoured with NetherRealm’s games, but Injustice 2 changes that. The superhero brawler features a refined version of the combat mechanics from the first game, making it as accessible as it can be to newcomers, while offering a suitable layer of depth for fighting game fans.

Unfortunately, it’s also got a bit of a bug that’s removing some players character levels. In Injustice 2, you’re able to level up yourself as a player – and level up each of the characters you play as. It’s time-consuming, so having your levels reset is enough to bring on tears.

Says one affected player on the game’s community forums:

“For some reason, I got disconnected from the game servers for a few hours and after restarting the game, I lost all the character and profile levels earned (about 15-20) while playing. Has anyone else run into this problem or know where I can report it?”

It turns out there’s an easy fix for the bug, as provided by Kotaku. It’s an easy fix, and it sounds like something right out of the IT Crowd. Yup, turn it off and on again.

It looks to be a problem with the game’s cache, and flushing it seems to return player levels. On PlayStation 4, that means turning the console off (not in to standby!), leaving it off for half a minute, and then switching it back on. On Xbox One, the solution is similar: Power down, wait a while, then switch it back on. If that doesn’t work, powering off and removing the power cable could help.

The solution on PC is to curl up into a little foetal ball, because one of the year’s best superhero games isn’t available on that platform. At least there’s Tekken 7 coming in a few week though, right?
