So the rumours started yesterday about Lair receiving terrible reviews from the EGM magazine. I didn’t report on that just in case all the PS3 fanboys blasted me for reporting on rumours..
However unless the image above is a really good photoshop job then the reports about the shocking review figures are true. It was just over a month ago when I reported about the CVG guys giving Lair some fantastic reviews so what has gone wrong in the meantime?
Granted these scores are just 3 peoples opinions and you may still enjoy the game but generally if a game rates less than 7/10 I would really hesitate to get it… Lair will still sell though since it has been hyped up so much.
However which is worse, having a game not sell or having a million people disappointed in your game?

Ouch, I had read a similar review of the Heavenly Sword demo from PSN on Eurogamer. But at least Heavenly Sword has time to improve what seemed to be lacking in the demo. In regards to Lair, too much hype & glossy game videos may have jinxed this game. Perhaps a demo will swivel opinions once its out.

yeah I find that happens’ a lot Hype is an incredibly powerful tool but at the same time can drop you down the side of a cliff…
It’s happened to a few games that I’ve been looking forward too. we’ll just have to wait and see

Blue Dragon also got a similar review in the same issue of the magazine. Another overhyped game.

ocelot you got a link for the BlueDragon story? I agree it’s another overhyped game that I may pick up second hand later on…. If it’s anything like what it sounds like

If I recall Jap games magazines had positive reviews on Blue Dragon, funnily Eurogamer had a positive comment on the game as well. I did play the demo from XBL and IMO I am looking forward to it.
Like I said, a Lair demo could make up the mind for potential buyers.
