Kinect was officially launched two weeks ago and is already proving to be pretty popular with the casual market. Not only that but you can expect Kinect bundles to grace many a Christmas tree come December.
So how casual friendly is the Kinect exactly? Well according to this Joyride video that was uploaded to YouTube, it’s so easy to play the game that you can finish an entire race by not actually doing anything.
Now… I am not entirely sure that every single level would let something like this happen, as well as the fact that it maybe be slightly understandable to have the level lightly point the cars in the right direction, but it does make you question the developers faith in the hardware.
Hit the jump now to see the video, then have a little giggle.

lol that’s sad…
I’m not short and it worked perfectly for me but at the same time the guy I was with who’s a little taller (6.2) couldn’t get the thing to recognise him… how tall are you?

I played the joyride demo this weekend, it’s a lot of fun. The young ‘uns dig it.
Sometimes giving up a little control in the name of fun is worth it. There was a little game that did it with FPS aiming, you may have heard of it, it was called Halo 😉

I was at the V&A Waterfront the other day, and I tried Kinect at Musica and it picked me up and I was able to play, but I then went directly to Incredible Connection, across from Musica, wearing the same stuff, and the Kinect setup there could not pick me up. I tried standing at various distances away from the sensor, having my hoody unzipped, zipped, taking it off, and it still would not work. In between my attempts, several other people stepped in and it immediately worked perfectly for them, and as soon as I stepped back in, it wouldn’t work. So weird.

Was that guy me? Because I remember how I hated this title because it just could not do anything I was trying to achieve with this racer.
