Eternal Conflict – a Diablo themed update with a new battleground and new characters – is coming to Heroes of the Storm. When will the big patch land though? Soon…

Time differences aside, I thought the update was landing on the 30th – today. According to Blizzard however, Eternal Conflict will be arriving tomorrow, on the 1st of July (probably during the evening in South Africa). Either way, we won’t have to wait much longer to sink our teeth into all the new upcoming content.

Along with the new battleground, Battlefield of Eternity, will be the Butcher. Blizzard have released a spotlight video showcasing his abilities:

Kevin “Cloaken” Johnson introduces you to the newest Assassin entering the Nexus, the Butcher.

You can read about his abilities here. If the going rate remains the same (as it has been for the last few new hero releases), expect to pay 15 000 gold to gain access to The Butcher – at least for the first two weeks. Alternately, you can cough up some cash – around €12-15 normally.

The Butcher isn’t the only hero coming to the Nexus. He will be joined first by Leoric, and later, the Monk (and a Wizard too eventually it seems, which rounds off the entire Diablo hero roster). Here’s what the former, the skeleton king, can do and what he looks like in action (via Heroes Nexus):

Core Abilities

Undying (trait)

Become a ghost when you die, and resurrect upon reaching full health. Your Abilities don’t do damage while dead, but can still heal causing you to cheat death.

Ghastly Swing (Q)

Cooldown: 8 seconds – Swing in front of you to slow enemies by 40% for 2.5 seconds.

Skeletal Swing (Q)

50 Mana. Cooldown: 8 seconds – Swing in front of you to deal 300 ( 110 + 10 per level) damage and slow enemies by 40% for 2.5 seconds. Deals double damage to all non-Heroic sources.

Drain Essense (W)

Cooldown: 12 seconds – Throw out a chain, attaching to the first enemy Hero hit healing you for up to 486 ( 178.2 + 16.2 per level) health over 4 seconds as long as you remain close to the enemy. You drain more essence the longer you remain connected.

Drain Hope (W)

60 Mana. Cooldown: 12 seconds – Grab an enemy Hero’s soul, dealing up to 25% of their maximum Health as damage and healing you for up to 25% of your maximum Health while you are nearby, over 4 seconds. You are slowed by 20% while this is active.

Wraith Walk (E)

50 Mana. Cooldown: 14 seconds – Separate from your body, becoming Unstoppable and gaining Movement Speed accelerating up to 50% over 2.5 seconds. When Wraith Walk ends or is canceled, your body jumps to your wraith.

Leoric

Ultimate Abilities

Entomb (R)

75 Mana. Cooldown: 50 seconds – Create an unpathable tomb in front of you for 4 seconds.

March of the Black King (R)

100 Mana. Cooldown: 80 seconds – Become Unstoppable and swing your mace three times, healing yourself for 7.03% of your maximum Health for each enemy Hero hit and dealing 400 ( 210 + 10 per level) damage

Remember, Leoric cannot die technically, which is why he has alternate Q and W abilities (for when he is in ghost form). I like that he will always be active on the battlefield, whether alive or dead. Actually, I hope I’m never up against him… he seems like a nuisance to face!

Sadly, there are no details on the Monk whatsoever. Nobody knows when he will be released, or what he can do for that matter. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer.

In the meantime, the patch is downloadable. I’d recommend doing it as soon as possible, so that you’re ready to jump into battle as soon as Eternal Conflict goes live. Heck, it may be out already by the time you read this, so quit wasting time!
