Everything you might have missed from Xbox’s Gamescom press conference

Press conferences are filled with cool announcements and reveals during Gamescom. We tried to cover them as they dropped yesterday, but you might not have seen each and every article, or all the trailers that we didn’t write about because we were doing trailer triage. So, here’s everything that happened during the Xbox press conference.

It kicked off with the big three: Quantum Break, Crackdown 3 and Scalebound. Seeing as we got a release date for Quantum Break, as well as totally different looking gameplay, it should help people decide when (or whether) to buy the Xbox One if they haven’t already.

Next up, there was news about the third season of Killer Instinct and ID@Xbox stuff including Ark: Survival Evolved being a part of the preview program. But here are some trailers we didn’t get to show you last night – We Happy Few is my favorite.

Keeping things oh so uplifting, we got a dark and interesting video for Homefront: The Revolution as well as world premier gameplay footage for Dark Souls 3. Halo 5: Guardians is all about the eSports, but some of the vroom vroom fans might be starting to feel left out. Don’t worry, they gave you a Forza trailer:

We also found out a bit about FIFA 16 Legends on Xbox, although I’ll wager we’ll hear more about the game during EA’s press conference this morning. Next up some adrenaline fueled Just Cause 3 and this teaser for Rainbow Six Siege:

Of course we got a nice taste of Rise of the Tomb Raider, and it’s looking like a whole bunch of fun. Thus, it was time to end the press conference with… not Gears of War. That’s right, instead of the final trailer being about Gears, it was the reveal of Halo Wars 2. At least strategy fans will be happy.

Based on twitter, there are some mixed reactions to the Xbox press conference. There are some cool looking games, but it’s definitely a console targeted at a different kind of market. There’s nothing wrong with it, but the Xbox One feels like a real “dude bro” console to me. There simply weren’t that many games that I was excited by, and it seems some people felt the same. Of course, Halo fans and people who like all things that go pew pew and vroom vroom were happy, and I suppose that’s the demographic they are courting.

I played Feist during this last week, as a close copy to the Limbo recipe though… It was quite cool, I’m really enjoying the silhouette based platform genre, just wish it was executed a bit more often though…

i think tracks are the problem. theyr repetative and there is only one or two ways ways to drive them.
give me a structured open world any day.
give me a fun racing sim.

You should really be saving that money towards the PS4 because you will be getting 8gbs of DDR5 RAM to play with instead of AAA exclusives

I just want risk free. I will not pay R 150 for it, but figure it will come free one day. Looks like fun for a few hours. Maybe a keeper.

forza PR dude: “all of this wouldnt have been possible, without the xbone.”

    incorrect.
all of this was possible 4 years ago on PC… too bad your silly consoles keep getting in our way.
