Evo-2

Sweet Gorilla Grodd, do I love fighting games. They’re the purest form of eSports for me, a tense game of chess with fists that is thrilling to see unfold. For any fan of the genre, the pinnacle of skill and determination in the fighting game scene is and always will be EVO. The Wrestlemania of the genre, the Evolution series is where champs are born and scores are settled.

The crucible upon which the biggest names in the scene can defend their titles as the best of the best, while plenty of hungry upstarts attempt to forge their own legend. Who knows? Some of them might even be successful when they battle it for second place in the Injustice 2 tournament while Sonic Fox watches on.

EVO 2017 kicks off this weekend, and if you’re looking to veg out and enjoy the action, then here’s a handy primer for you.

That’s a lot of digital Kung-Fu fighting, and trust me it will be most exciting. I’m personally looking forward to the Injustice 2 Pro Series reaching its conclusion, my favourite fighting game of the year so far. This year also marks what will most likely be the final appearance of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, much to the relief of many a seared retina from watching years of ultra combos executed on the screen.

Looks like a great weekend! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!
