Evolve was a definite stand-out at this year’s rAge Expo. There wasn’t once where I walked past the stand and didn’t see a massive line around it, even before the doors had opened to the public. People love hunting down a group of hunters as the monster, and adding to this beastly roster is exactly how Turtle Rock is going to keep the game alive.
Evolve is only out in February, but there’s already a “Monster Expansion Pack” that you can order for additional content. The pack includes a new, Savage skin for my favourite monster so far, the Goliath. You can check it out below, in what looks like the most perfect hunter stalking game anyone will ever have.
The pack also includes access to an unannounced monster, which is how I think Turtle Rock will keep Evolve fresh. Considering it’s multiplayer only, Evolve will need constant game changers introduced. This keeps players learning and experimenting, and at the end of the day keeps them playing the game.
We’ve already seen a massive difference between the Kraken and Goliath. The Goliath is fast and brutish, while the Kraken demands slower, more thought out play in order to win. Turtle Rock has their hands full of putty here, with a ton of options open to them in terms of future beasties.
I certainly can’t wait to get my hands on it again. Did you give it a shot last weekend? Is it on your day-one buying list?

I worked at rAge this year and managed to get in about 5 or 6 games. Every game I enjoyed it more and more. I was scared that this would become boring after awhile, and now I know for sure that this game will just get better and better the more you play. Day one purchase for me, and by far the best on show at rAge for me.

Was lucky enough to play one round as Goliath vs the Megarom team. This game is going to be a blast, will be so cool to play in a hunter squad with mates!

I won 🙂 Evolved to LVL3, went for the generator. The hunters come into the room and got crushed & burnt to a crisp.

Really want this game, but with the “Big Alpha”(What the hell is that???) not even open to use here in SA it makes me worry that we might be skipped like with Titanfall….. Or am I missing something somewhere?

Well hopefully because the dev team is ex Left for Dead it will work in the same way. Maybe LG can reach out to Megarom for more info on how the server side of things will work.
