Evolve, 2K and Turtle Rock’s great big asymmetrical multiplayer shooter is nearly upon us. The game’s going to kick off a console beta worryingly close to its retail release –  and now we have the recommend and minimum PC specs, straight from the horse’s mouth. Unfortunately for those running dual-card set-ups, Evolve won’t support SLI out of the box. Check it:

Here’s what 2K has to say:

“The game supports 4k resolutions right now. HOWEVER, there is no support for SLI out of the box. Our teams are working on that and hope to get SLI support into Evolve as soon as possible. As soon as we have more info to share here, we will!”

Beyond the SLI flub, your PC must be this tall to enter:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
INTEL CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600
AMD CPU: Athlon 64 X2 6400
SYSTEM RAM: 4GB
NVIDIA VIDEO CARD: GeForce GTX 560
ATI VIDEO CARD: Radeon HD 5770
VIDEO MEMORY: 1GB
HARD DRIVE: 50GB
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS:

INTEL CPU: Core i7-920
AMD CPU: A8-3870K
SYSTEM RAM: 6GB
NVIDIA VIDEO CARD: GeForce GTX 670 or GTX 760
ATI VIDEO CARD: Radeon R9 280
VIDEO MEMORY: 2GB
HARD DRIVE: 50GB
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

For those of you who like tweaking, here are the things you’ll be able to change:

  • Texture Detail
  • Shader Detail
  • Model Detail
  • Shadow Quality
  • Particle Quality
  • Anti-Aliasing
  • Tessellation
  • VSYNC

listing an i7 from 2008 for the recommended specs isnt helping much either.
I have a new i5, but the required AMD A8 tells me more about what to expect than the 7 year old i7.

overall, i think those required and recommended specs are ambitious.
theyr telling me i can get decent framerates on low settings on a 6 year old 5770?
for a 2015 next gen 50gb game? no chance.

super optimized, with a 50gb install?
sorry, not seeing it, if it runs on a 6 year old 128bit 1gb graphcs card and an old core2duo, whats there to justify the 50gb install?

They didn’t properly compress the game files?

i think its overly ambitious. the pc i built for my sister has my old 5770 and an AMD A8, will test it for myself.
I’ll be more than happy to be proven wrong, but im not expecting it.

Hey you can play co-op online then with your sister if it works…. It’s a win win. Now we need 2 more okes for a flll squad.

It simply means that you can use the super high res stuff (Which validates the 50GB) or you can opt to use low settings which you will find use only a small portion of the 50GB install textures etc.

It’s just means that people have options. Which is nice for a change.

pretty confident of that aswell, was more of a comment of the hardware mentioned being prehistoric gen 1 stuff.

I have given up on devs actually knowing hardware. they will list a i5 as min and then a 5% better i7 as recommended… so basically any i5 above x ghz is fine, but they still go and give a specific product. sigh.

Money market gimmick that’s all there is to it. That’s why I say PC specs these days are like a guideline and shouldn’t be taken to heart at all.

GPUs are usually quite accurate though, its the only thing that matters anyway.

its the first time ive really noticed it.
normally i (and im assuming everyone else, because this is the internet and im always right) dont even look at the cpu specs.
the only thing I (and everyone else) look at is the GPU and sometimes RAM.

Your CPU is tough but your GPU and ram is going to kill you. I would suggest you run on a tweaked medium setting.

That min specs weak, thought it would be more considering how good the game looks

And this is exactly why I dropped my dual card like it was hot. SLI is hardly ever supported (properly) at launch.

Once again the 560Ti steps up shows the other cards how to do it!

I’ll be able to run this easy once SLI is enabled for my dual 560Ti setup.

Odd how SLI isn’t supported out of the box. It’s pretty standard practice nowadays
