F1 2010 Delayed In South Africa – From Petrolhead to Emo Kid in 2.7 Seconds

Somewhere in the craziness of the past week, I happened to have missed out on some news that made me feel about as emo as the new Dante looks.

If you haven’t then heard by now (the headline is a giveaway, right?), Codemaster’s F1 2010 is not going to be released on September 24. Now I know you are all thinking “damn those blasted public holidays for taking away our games even though we are too busy NOT working to care!”, but it’s actually a little stranger than that.

I had already planned for my long weekend to involve a whole lot of me wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a racing helmet, while sitting in my gaming room in a fake F1 car made out of boxes (with Ferrari stickers plastered on them). What the heck am I supposed to do now, I can’t let good boxes go to waste!

Details and new release date after the jump.

Our retailer friends over at Zaps posted up a rather interesting bit of information regarding the delay of F1 2010.

According to the post, Nu Metro is purposefully holding back stock to ensure that “all retailers have the game in stock and will be able to start selling at the same time”. It sounds silly but at the same time a little understandable. I see it as lost sales, but if I was a retailer and a whole bunch of my competitors received their stock and I didn’t, I would be inclined to throw some of my toys around.

Nu Metro sent an email out to the retailers apologising and what-not, here’s a grab of the mail as posted by Zaps.

“Please be advised that F1 2010 all formats has moved from 24 September street date to 30 September, all stock will start shipping from the 27th September onwards.

Apologies for any inconveniences caused.”

Damn straight it’s an inconvenience, it takes a lot of effort to steal boxes out of a Spar loading bay I’ll have you know, I’ll bet that Nu Metro didn’t think about THAT when they wrote their email.

  1. Well, as dissapointed as I am, 1 week won’t do that much harm. Luckily, I didn’t steal boxes though

Will also give me more time to read reviews form players to decide if is a 1st day purchase!

well at least it gives me time to cancel my pre-order if the reviews aren’t good.
