F1 2015, a game based on the popular Formula One racing league which was itself based on the popular 2001 Sylvester Stallone movie “Driven”, is headed back to the track! Last year’s F1 2014 was another solid entry in the Codemasters-developed franchise, bringing various tweaks and tune-ups to the gameplay while also looking rather attractive. Here’s what you can expect in the latest season of F1.

Hitting current-gen for the first time, F1 2015 will get a PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC release in June. Using Codemasters’ EGO game engine, the game will apparently have new tyre models that will impact the actual physics and handling of driving a vehicle that is lighter than your wallet during the middle of the month around a track dozens of times at speeds that border on ludicrously dangerous.

The handling in F1 2015 will also have affect  your engine, transmission and various other car bits, while making said vehicles accurately responsive and authentic. There’s also a new “Broadcast Presentation” style that will be in the game, as it attempts to recreate the look and feel of race day. Players can even engage with their race engineer from the cockpit, by yelling voice commands through the Xbox Kinect or PlayStation Camera, that will presumably be misunderstood because of ex-cents.

“F1 2015 marks an exciting new chapter for Codemasters and Formula One; it’s a shift in direction for the game series, on new formats and our brand new game engine, with the game set to be released earlier in the season, launching this June,” Codemasters Game Director Paul Jeal said in a press release.

The handling is a vast improvement from our previous games. In particular our new tyre model is a superb step forward towards realism, letting you explore where the limit is and allowing you to instantly feel much more connected with the car. You can now experience the changes in grip caused by temperature changes, wear, car set-up, debris and weather conditions. Our improved vehicle dynamics much more accurately convey the difference in performance and the feel between mechanical and aerodynamic grip.

The new Force Feedback system adds to the feeling of connection with the car and track surface. The more natural and realistic nature of the game physics also serves to ensure that the racing experience is more accessible, enjoyable and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

With the second race of the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship this weekend in Malaysia, the team is busy modelling the new 2015 cars and drivers in readiness for the game’s summer launch. You can see a tease of our first signed off 2015 content in our debut screenshots, as well as an early glimpse of the Mexican circuit. In addition to the 2015 season, we are also delighted to be able to offer the 2014 season as a bonus selectable season. Even this far out from our games release they truly show the power of our new game engine.

Personally, I’m going to drive like my hero Aryton Senna and twat-slam my car into my nearest rival on the track. That’ll show ‘em.

  1. Since they dropped Istanbul Park from the circuit line-up I’ve lost a bit of interest in these.
Probably will still get it though :/

Was expecting a cat to drive the car in the header… The thing with yearly releases is that I never get them because I always tell myself, there’s one coming next year so maybe then.

Nah, cats cannot drive formula one cars. Their reflexes are far too good, they would just push the humans out the way.

Must have Jedi Reflexes to drive formula one cars.

As long as these, …………….. highly intelligent and logical, people at Sony don’t allow me to use my G27 racing wheel… i will not be buying any racing games… and this hurts my soul…. especially when my wallet can’t afford a new thrustmaster…

It costs too much, in money and time investment, to get a new one every year. I still play my 2010 edition sometimes.

Great games, these, though. If you love Formula One. And i do, even if in recent years it has become strange, to say the least.

The 2011 one is probably one of my favourites. They were on sale on Steam the other day. I put 2013 in my cart. The thing got an error. Returned later to do my purchase and the sale was over.
      I suppose it’s a sign.

play with controller, even on PC? Or wheel?

Seriously, game is realistic, cars are realistic. I have been watching Formula One since I was like six, faithfully, and I was awestruck the first time I played the 2010 edition. But I played in arcade mode, not simulation, cause hell no.

I like playing with a controller. It stops me from taking it too seriously. 🙂 Haven’t unpacked my wheel in a while now.

I’ve also been watching F1 since I was young. Luckily my fiancé loves it too (and have watched quite a few – including the one where Michael broke his leg). So there might be some jealousy there from my side

Why Jealousy? And how long is she going to stay your fiancé? When does she become your wife?

            In three weeks 🙂
I just wish I could’ve seen as many F1 races (or any) at the circuits.

            3 weeks? Good luck!

That last week, just hang in there! Very happy for you. Do it well. And I hope the families are not very political and do not add to your stress. I hate that. My family is like that.

I know a few years back it cost R40 000 a ticket for Monza, all GP days.

The only problem so far has been the families and extended families :/ But luckily we’re both very relaxed people. And we only invited 14 people in the end.

I would love to watch a Monaco or Monza race. Would’ve loved to watch an Istanbul one too, but that’s not going to happen.

Wow. No. We’re keeping things small. Both of us are a bit introverted, so the fewer people the better.

Used to be a fan and enjoyed the games but since they messed F1 up with the new engines(the cars all sound like Ford XR8’s doing a victory lap around PTA west now) I’ve stopped watching and refuse to buy the games!

Not a great time to release this. Project CARS will be out just ahead of it. Although they could be right on the money if they delay CARS again!

You dare even make a joke about Driven and F1… You know, Stallone was originally making an F1 movie, but when the FOM saw the script and thought it was crap, the project was changed.
