Fable II has proven to be the most popular videogame in America throughout October. Which is not really surprising as besides chart “veterans” – Wii fit, Wii play and Mario kart, it did have the longest time on shelf for the month, besides of course Dead space which only managed to just creep in.
The Xbox 360-exclusive role-playing title sold 790,000 copies during the month, according to new NPD data on GamesIndustry.biz. Which is pretty darn good for a platform exclusive release. Infact actually I must admit I’m rather suprised, I love fable and think it’s a great game, Maybe this is just more of a testament to the huge install base the Xbox 360 has in America.
The top 10 US games for October are:
- Fable II (360): 790,000
- Wii Fit (Wii): 487,000
- Fallout 3 (360): 375,000
- Mario Kart Wii (Wii): 290,000
- Wii Play (Wii): 282,000
- Saints Row 2 (360): 270,000
- SOCOM: Confrontation (PS3): 231,000
- LittleBigPlanet (PS3): 215,000
- NBA 2K9 (360): 202,000
- Dead Space (360): 193,000

No surprise at all, the first fable was big in America
so it is only natural for the second one to sell well , especially after all the press it got. Another thing it is a western RPG, so people buying oblivion, Fallout will buy this as well.
And it is a damn good game at the end of the day.

I must say I’m shocked how badly LBP did. Even SOCOM, being outsold by just the 360 SKU of Saints Row 2 is just bad.

the only reason socom sold so well is because it got a bluetooth headset included.

LBP sales are for 3 days only, so its not bad. Also, SOCOM is also available as a PSN download and those figures are not included.
