Fable Legends delayed – coming to open beta in 2016

Fable Legends! It’s a game you’ve probably forgotten was coming. The asymmetrical, spin-off, free-to-play, cross-platform, more-hyphens-necessary multiplayer game was set for release soon – but it’s now been delayed.

It’s not because the game is rubbish, says Lionhead. In fact, when I got to go hands on with it a while back, I found it to be a rather entertaining romp. Instead, the game has apparently outgrown itself, and become something bigger than Lionhead had anticipated.

To that end, it needs a bit more time in the oven.

“To be honest, we didn’t anticipate just how big Fable Legends is becoming,” said Lionhead.

“We’ve built a unique and innovative multiplayer experience combining RPG and RTS gameplay which allows you to play, and use your gear seamlessly, across Xbox One and Windows 10.

“We’ve decided to extend our closed beta to continue to listen to feedback from our players and add features and polish that will make a real difference. This means Fable Legends won’t release into open beta this holiday as previously announced. We realise this may be disappointing for those of you not currently playing, so we wanted to tell you why.

So when will you be able to play the game? Not for a while – but it will be going in to open beta in our Autumn, next year.

“To achieve our aspirations for Fable Legends, we’ve moved our open beta release to spring of 2016.”

On top of that, they’re increasing the number of people who’ll be allowed in to the current closed beta.

“We’re excited to invite an additional 100,000 fans to the Fable Legends closed beta over the next few weeks, prioritising those that have been waiting the longest. If you want to get in on the closed beta, sign up at FableLegends.com.”

I’m confused. Is the game afoot, or not?

I’m always surprised, astonished and flabbergasted when someone makes something unique and innovative, and if it turns out not to be that then I’m shocked and appalled.

Initially I was disappointed when I first heard the news, but if it means a better game I’m ok with it(not happy mind you, just ok!) This will give me time to really dive into ARK as from tomorrow!
