Fallout 4 gets its first official, non-beta patch

Fo4Patch

Fallout 4! It’s great game. A great game with more than a few issues that’ll hopefully be patched up just in time for some sort of DLC-packing Game of the Year Edition to be released in the tail-end of next year. Until then, we can only rely on patches, updates and fixes. Unless you’re the sort who likes to dabble with beta patches, there haven’t really been any of those.

That’s changed, as the game is now home to its first official post-release patch. IT’s come to Pc first, and should be making its way to consoles soon. Numbered 1.2, the patch doesn’t really seem to do all that much seeming to bundle the two beta patches that were already released for braver gamers willing to play around with beta patches.

Most notably, the game improves the inside of the Corvega Assembly Plant, which could often bring the game’s frame rate to its knees. It’s also fixed the issue of getting stuck in terminals, so you’ll not have to quik save before each hack attempt. It’s out on Steam right now, and Bethesda’s said it hopes to have console versions of the patch rolling out later this week.

New features

  • Number pad keys can now be used for remapping (PC)
  • Remapping Activate now works on Quick Container (PC)

Fixes

  • General memory and stability improvements
  • Performance improvements inside the Corvega Assembly Plant
  • Optimizations to skinned decal rendering
  • Fixed issue with player becoming stuck in terminals
  • Fixed issue where equipped weapons become locked after completing Reunions
  • Fixed issue with “When Freedom Calls” where the quest would not complete
  • During “Confidence Man” fixed issue where player’s health would continuously regenerate
  • Fixed crash related to jumping into water and reloading saved games
  • Fixed issue where Launcher would not save God Rays Quality setting properly (PC)

Unfortunately, the update has broken many of the existing mods for the game – with some reporting that mods don’t work at all. Thankfully, there’s a fix – but other mods that still don’t work will need to be updated by their creators.

I always shake my head when I see someone riding without some kind of PPE. I’m sure it’s very liberating to ride with a t-shirt, shorts & plakkies because “the man” isn’t going to tell you what to do but like… what happens when something goes wrong?

They have to take a steel brush and brush out the tar before they can dress the wound. Steel brush, open flesh. Let that sink in.

            December 8, 2015 at 09:23

With me it was a bit easier, kind of. They just removed the skin that was damaged by the tar and then had to stretch the other skin over to close the wound. Leaves you with quite a scar.

I haven’t experienced any of those issues, especially not the Corvega Assembly Plant one, been in there a couple times. Granted I haven’t gotten to a bunch of the missions, but I’m working through it… SLOWLY 😛

Still loving the game though, And I’ve picked up some awesome legendary gear so far.

I’m also taking my sweet time with this. One thing I really won’t mind having: a mission log. Not that says what there are, as the hole point of the game is to wonder, but the missions you have done and the ones that you have activated.

Well, every person who has ever used a mod should know that patches have the tendency to make some of them unstable or simply not work. It’s to be expected. There are a lot of tiny things than can break a mod.

I’ve had one crash. Somewhere very specific.
And with the main quest I had an issue where Kellogg’s dialogue didn’t want to activate, so we literally just stood and stared at each other for about 20minutes before I realised that it’s not some immersive moment of the game and loaded an older save. Keeping many saves is very important in Bethesda games.

The biggest issue I have (PS4) is the load screen. Sometimes it looks like it’s loading so you wait… and wait…
Now after a few sec I press the PS button that takes me back to the dashboard and I go back to the game. Then all of a sudden the load is complete. That’s the only real problem I have found, ok so Dogmeat sinkis into floors, walls and runs on water. It’s a fucking “special” dog, ok??!!
