Fallut 4 in 2015?

I’m still riding the high the Fallout 4 reveal trailer put me on yesterday afternoon. It’s not only a game I’ve been dreaming of playing for years, but it’s one that Bethesda has been actively working on for close to three years now. So it wouldn’t be that surprising if it does, in fact, find its way onto shelves this year.

So much so that even Bethesda’s own store page has listed the game with a “TBA 2015” release date – which was hastily edited shortly afterwards. The listing now reads just TBA – which means one of two things. Either the date wasn’t meant to be up there, or it was simply a placeholder until a proper, more official date was revealed.

The latter is extremely likely, but I wouldn’t be the only one thinking Bethesda could pull off a launch this year. Fallout 4 has been under development since Skyrim and its extended DLC shipped. That translates to a rather lengthy development period already – which is flaunted in the extensive debut trailer the game received yesterday. Bethesda even announced that gameplay would be on show during their conference at E3.

I’m quite confident that Fallout 4 is actually quite close to completion, and Bethesda have simply allowed the mystery behind the game’s existence to fuel the hype by itself. It certainly would be the most unconventional way for a modern AAA game to launch in recent memory, but one that would certainly benefit the game.

Because let’s all be honest: we would very much like to be exploring the wastelands of Boston by the time the festive season rolls in.

  1. I saw it’s already on the Steam store for pre-order.
Just waiting to see what the collectors edition will look like though and how I’m going to get my hands on one.

Did we play the same game? Only issue I had with it was the V.A.T.S system being a little too easy to kill anyone.

I can wait. Around the festive season I’ll either still be on my way to the Skellige Isles or trying very hard not to be killed by Vanduul. 😛

The only time I’ve fast traveled is when I’m crossing places I’ve already been. Otherwise I’m walking. There’s just so many little things you come across.

That medallion you get to break illusions from the witch’s quest – I’d found a place earlier that had a buried stairway but didn’t know how to get past it, once I got that medallion I wondered if that would work… and it did. And there was an amusing little quest too. So much win.

That thing really does come in handy in all kinds of random places, I’ve also noticed. It’s excellent. And I know what staircase you’re referring to there 😀

I’ve still got a long way to go. Last night I saw a Nekker nest & thought I’d take it out quickly. Then I saw they’re lvl 18 so I ran away quickly instead.

I’m also worried about the kids I gave food too, they weren’t at the cabin where I found them when I came back past there & there was blood on the ground. But that could’ve been from the wild dog I’d killed earlier.

            June 4, 2015 at 09:05

I was a little shocked with that one at first… But then I chose the “kind” route with the quest… I was not disappointed….

          • Blood Emperor Trevor

            June 4, 2015 at 09:07

I tend to go “kind” as well. If you read the books you see Geralt doesn’t kill unless he really has too, he actually has sympathy for many of the monsters. So I try to play it that way.

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

            June 4, 2015 at 09:12

Exactly! I prefer the non lethal way as much as I can too and leave the monster slaying for the contracts, though I still love the one trailer where Vesimir tells Geralt to leave it, after he’d collected the bounty, while the guys in the background try to hang a girl, he then turns around and heads that way… in short, the guy asks him “What are you doing” His reply “Killing Monsters…” I’m playing that kind of Geralt, more of a just monster slayer…Suppose I’l try it differently in my next playthrough… Four years from now….

I hope you’re not right about this, but if history is anything to go by we should see an Elder Scrolls VI announcement next year sometime (since it and Fallout usually come out in close succession).
Either way. After ESO and after The Witcher 3, Bethesda is going to have to pull a dragon out of a hat to really catch my attention again with an Elder Scrolls game.

Awesome! Well if we look at the recent release of the Old Blood, there wasn’t too much of a wait between the announcement and the actual release, so maybe Bethesda are going the route of only revealing items that are actually pretty ready? This would make sense after the Prey 2 shenanigans of announcing too early…
