Fallout 76 player with 900 hours in-game reportedly banned for having too much ammo

Fallout 76 is not a very good game, but there are bits of the game that are endearing, rewarding and even addictive, especially if you like hoarding digital guff. There are people who genuinely love the game, and continue to pour hundreds of hours into combing the wasteland.

Reddit user Glorf12 is one such player. Glorf12 claims to have put over 900 hours into Fallout 76, and has collected an unfathomable amount of ammo in the game as a result. Since grabbing the Bandolier Perk, which reduces ammo weight by 90%, Glorf12 has roamed West Virginia, scrounging for ammo with reckless abandon. “Given the sheer amount of time I have spent playing I have legitimately collected ludicrous amounts of ammo,” Glorf12 said.

Bethesda has banned the fellow as a result, suggesting that the sheer number of bullets collected must surely be the result of cheating. They probably don’t believe somebody’s spent 900 hours in their game either. Here’s a look at the email they received informing of the infraction:

While the player has traded ammo across two accounts, it seems to be the sheer amount of ammo hoarded that’s the cause for concern.

“I cannot be more adamant that I have never once owned an item in excess of 100,000 and I believe I have been banned due to others reporting me,” Glorf12 said. “I often use 2 accounts to transfer items between my characters. I even detail it in the comments of the above reddit post how and why I do this. My belief is that people see a level 450+ player trading with a level 2 character and immediately think REPORT HIM REPORT HIM REPORT HIM. I even get some players who harass me when I’m attempting to trade items.”

Either way, one of the few people really playing Fallout 76 has been banned for really playing Fallout 76.

The very first question that springs to my mind:
    1. Who the hell hates their life so much, that they would sink 900 hours into this game?

      That’s real commitment to self-loathing.

    I’ve seen self-hate, but 900 hours in Fallout 76. That’s real commitment.

Bethesda finds one of the very few people who like this game and then immediately ban him… Classic

This isn’t original to this site ffs… Why would you assume they got it here and not the actual Reddit source?

If you actually checked the link you might have seen that the person who wrote the piece said “Cheers CriticalHit” at the bottom. Which as far as I understand it means that person read about the story here first. I’ve seen them do it a few times. Just gaming news sites giving some shoutouts to each other.

Every cheater swears up and down they didn’t cheat. He had upwards of 640k rounds (over 366k of it Ultracite) in his inventories, and over 100k rounds in under 30 hours of play. He was either duping, or buying duped ammo from 3rd parties. There’s nothing to suggest he actually played 900 hours, either. What he said didn’t add up, and once Reddit called him out on it, he vanished.

Article should be titled, “Bethesda suspends obvious cheater”. It says right in the image you posted that the accounts are suspended until they fix duping.

Dude is a fraud and so is the guy that wrote this article. Reddit posts are not news and if you’re going to try and make a living copy pasting Reddit threads as articles you should at least follow up and do some damn homework on it.

He wasn’t wrongfully banned he’s been called out on it. Dude is full of shit.

Yup but “journalists” passing it on as truth based on one reddit post and zero research. Bunch of folks just buying whatever they read. Such a bummer people are so easily conned.

I like to think there was a conversation at Bethesda that went something like this.
Developer: Hey boss, we found someone who has spent 900 hours playing our game.
    Boss: Why?
Developer: I have no idea. What should we do?
Boss: I don’t know, I mean we gotta do something right?
Developer: Absolutely! We gotta help this poor soul.
Boss: Ok lets ban him. It will sting at first, but they will thank us some day.

He definitly cheated. Crying will not cancel the fact they catch him glitching ammo with his multiple accounts exploit!
