Fantastic Little Big Planet Footage

Okay so the footage itself is not the best quality but the amount of information and gameplay in this footage is brilliant.

We finally get a full understanding of what the gameplay will actually be and I can finally say for sure that I want this game. I was previously worried about the lack of actual gameplay but now that we can see the point of the game it really does look brilliant.

They touch on a very valid point about moderating the skins you upload as well. It won’t take long for a hormonally challenged child to upload his favourite pornstar and use that as a skin.

It’s cute. It looks pretty. The Soundtrack is quite infections. You can make your own levels.

But I’m still struggling to see how the gameplay is any different to any other generic 8-bit 2D platformer?

    Someone please enlighten me?

It’s like playing with doll’s and lego’s…. in hi-def!!! There should be an age-restriction to it. Under 10’s only!

are you fools??? it’s the concept… even if it is only played by 10 year olds… it makes the ps3 a more general console, a console that the hard core gamer can play, and a 6 year old…

also, it’s just fun… i often need a break from playing HARD core games… and just let me free wheel…

It a very clearer Idea… and should do well… just because it’s like a wii game with hi def…

The game play is something that is easy enough for children to play, and has enough info for a real gamer to enjoy…

the maps can be made constantly… so the would is always evolving… so… ya…

Sigh… people and there hardcore games… It’s such a shame to see people only buy what is the latest “cool” game that all his/her friends are playing. But people, you gotta start understanding concepts here… Look at the wii, at first it looked like the gayest little console the world has very seen, but now, it’s selling like hot cakes coz it’s FUN. sure, you don’t look cool while playing tennis or bowling on the little gizmo, but who gives a shyte, it’s still fun. Once you having fun, all the things around you sises to exist.

Same thing with this little game… It will be fun, and it’s clever. It’s there so Daddy, mommy, sister and brother can all play etc… there’s gonna be 50+ release levels, which means the game will take a long ass time to finish (unlike the games today where we looking at about 8-12 hours of game play, which will take 3 or so days to finish)

The games also got features where you can upload pictures and changes your mood status, which is clever as we all feel differently at different times.

it looks easy to use, and it’s simple interface gives a nice break from the games that are coming out. I mean, when I tries to play NFS:Pro Street, I hated the fact the the controls where like the xbox (the only reason why i hate it is because i want PS controls, I’ve grown up with them, I love them, so why not take a little time to make the controls PS controls???)

If you think about it, the ps3 maybe expensive, but it’s more accommodating then the xbox(not to offend any one, I aint bashing either) in the way that it has more games for every one then the xbox… Xbox is a hardcore gaming unit, it always was… the ps series was in the middle between a toy and a blood bath filled monster gaming machine.

So the Idea is really simple… and sony have been in this business for a while now, so they know that things work and what things don’t.

However, the sad thing is, I can’t see this game being a big console seller because, although nice to have, few people will go out to buy the whole console just for this game (this is just how I see things)

anyways… I give +4 for sony and this game 😀

Oh well, while many of you are sitting and playing generic FPS or racing game #34534643, I’ll be playing LBP and grinning like a maniac, as I did with SMG. I love my Gears and Gods of War, my Call of Liberty: Day of Victory FPSes, but sometimes it’s great to play something that is just completely different from all the rest.

Scotty, I still believe the Wii is a fad, its the 21st centuries hoola hoop, its mass up take has got nothing to do with it being fun (cos its certainly gets boring very fast) it merely comes down to marketing and its the gotta have of our generation. Jones next door got one, so I need two!

Scotty, just as a point of order:
“it’s more accommodating then the xbox…in the way that it has more games for every one then the xbox”

Just isn’t true. Especially considering the 40Gb can’t play PS2 games. The only “E” games on the PS3 is Ratchet and Clank and the Simpsons, because all the movie tie ins and common franchises were only released on the PS2, Wii and 360. Crash, B-Movie, all the Pixar games etc etc.

Anyway, I sure LBP will do well, it’s just not for me. But then neither is GTAIV or DMC4.

Doobi, im surprised you actaully let one slip, I can think of two other E games on ps3 just off the top of my head. Namely; Ratatouie(???) and Surfs Up.

doobi… there’s also the eye toy…(sing start.. but that
is on the xbox as well) but i was talking more about the stereotype that is played on the wii/ps3 and xbox… xbox is the hardcore gamers wet dream. the wii is a toy and the ps3 is er… just thrown into the two to fill the middle gap between them…
Abe… the wii maybe a fab, but it’s still selling like it was free. so you argument is flawed (so is mine :D)

I agree that that’s the perception of the playstation brand as a whole, but with the current price tag and catalogue it’s quite far from ‘family friendly’. I think the perception is more of a Big Home theatre, Jack of all trades type thing. By comparison Microsoft are desperately chasing the Wii, and trying to build that awareness with the cutesified arcade, and the extended family control features.

Abe, you’re right, fair enough there are some, but once again it’s about numbers, and exclusives. Off the top of my head The 360 has more than a dozen family exclusives, the PS3 has 1. (I’m excluding PS2 games because of BC) Not to say PS3 won’t pick up.

On the Wii. 20 million units has passed a fad. Record sales for SMG and SSB, is not a fad. Nintendo doesn’t need people to buy software to make it a success because they get to milk unit sold already. The Wii killshot is that they may never have to cut the price. The day sales start to slow, they’ll have enough cash in hand to release Wii HD, outperforming PS3 and 360, still maintaining a $250 price and give them a new excuse to release the next round of 1st party rehashes. The scary thing is that they could be ready to do that as early as next year.
