Far Cry Primal: Your PC must be this strong to tame beasts

Far Cry Primal

Far Cry Primal is a strange beast. When it was first announced, our immediate assumption was that it would be a sort of spin-off, not entirely unlike the deliciously silly Blood Dragon. That, however, isn’t the case – and Far Cry Primal is in fact this year’s fully-fledged Far Cry game.

Set in world whose name reminds us of a particular orange squash, the game is set very much in the past, eschewing the guns and explosions that have been a hallmarks of the series. Naturally, it raised a few eyebrows to The Rock-like degrees, but a few hand on previews (like our own!) have placated many fears – and the game keeps looking better and better.

“Far Cry Primal is certainly something different, and I walked away both intrigued and impressed by how Ubisoft have managed to change a formula while making it feel decidedly welcoming,” Alessandro said then. “There’s certainly no mistaking that Primal is a Far Cry game, and it’s going to be interesting to see how gameplay is received in general, given its similarities. But if Primal was a poker game, Beast masteries would certainly be the ace in the hole. A subtle system on the surface, but one that gives Primal the character it needs to cement your escapism into the Stone Age.”

Interested? You should be! If you plan on playing the game on PC, here’s the sort of hardware you’ll need.

While I can appreciate PC gaming, I dislike having to upgrade mine everytime a new game comes out.

I think that’s down to preference. Even before getting a console, I always plugged in a control for PC gaming. The clacking sound of a keyboard annoys me.

Yea. No. That statment doesn’t hold much weight.
I haven’t upgraded my pc in three years and it only cost me 7k new. Still run everything perfectly fine.

PS4 priced at R1000 less, and I know it can only play games. 😛

        PS2 + PS3 + PS4 = 13K
What I spent in consoles since 2002

that usually only happens when stuff like “next gen” comes out.
New titles come out and you’re like “woah, better upgrade my shit”
then next gen settles down and you realise it wasnt necessary.

Sad thing is, by next year a 980 will probably be the gfx for recommended eye candy gaming.

Haha it will kinda suck but at the same time think about how amazing the games will look. That’s when I sell my 980Ti and upgrade. Such is PC gaming life. Also, think about how crap they gna look on current gen consoles ? Shame

True there’s always the fun of poking console’s with a 1080p 60fps stick but what worries me is the fact that gaming as a standard is getting way to expensive, the tech you need to run a game proper and the power of our currency you just can’t get a proper rig under R8k these days.

Gaming has been an expensive pastime for quite a while now and its only gna get worse

Hehe… my 2 x GTX690 in SLI outruns even the 980Ti, so I don’t need to upgrade for the forseeable future 😉

            Appearently not, when I easily outrun a 980Ti. I score ~9200 in the latest 3DMark, while the 980Ti scores ~8400 🙂

Except ARK plays terrible on most PC hardware, and this terrible optimization is complimented with an (almost) complete lack of SLI support -.-

Honestly disappointed with the specs, they are pretty low meaning the game wont be current gen looking, prob more like the last Far Cry

I must be honest. I didn’t expect it to be a higher-end game than FarCry 4. From the get-go you could see it’s the same with just a different theme and approach. I’m okay with it though. Graphics isn’t everything.

I just don’t like it when companies rince and repeat. Hopefully they at least slightly improve the gfx engine and completely change the gameplay. I mean for 2 games now we’ve had to raid enemy camps all over the map and climb towers for map visibility

to be fair, FC4 had a shitty time with hardware, high end PCs getting hitches and shitty FPS, not to mention the shitty launch they had.
if these lower specs mean we get a better running game, then im all for it. even if im not going to buy the game.

It’s because it’s going to be a console port… they need to keep the graphics low, so the consoles can run it in at least 1080p@30FPS :-S
