A few months ago, I was given the opportunity to go back to E3 this year. It’s a dance I’ve danced before, and I passed up on that opportunity – instead letting other LG staff hit the expo this year. It would just be the same stuff, all over again, I reasoned, grumpy bastard that I am. A new Call of Duty, a new Assassin’s Creed. FIFA 16. Same old, same old. Been there, done that. And now? Now I’m kicking myself.
In the months since, we’ve learned that a new Deus Ex will be at E3. We know that Fallout 4 and Doom 4 will both be there. We know that Platinum will be showing off something brand new, and there’s even speculation that this time, THIS TIME DAMMIT, The Last Guardian will be on show.
Importantly, we know that Street Fighter V will be playable on the damned show floor. Rumour suggests we’ll see a new Hitman. The new Gears of War will be there, and I have a niggling suspicion in the back of my head that Metroid is coming back.
In short, it feels like this will be the best E3 in years, and I’ve gone and duffed it by passing it up because I’m a cynical old Grinch. It also means I get to stay behind to cover everything and hold the fort (with Matty!) while everyone else enjoys the sunshine, burgers, and hoboes of Los Angeles. I am an idiot.
I digress though. For the first time in a long time, I’m actually excited about E3. What of you? Are you excited for news from the event, or are you a cynical bastard who thinks it’s all just PR and marketing nonsense anyway. If you’re excited, what is it that has you keen to follow the coverage this year?

I’m excited for some things, but a lot of it does seem to be the same. I hope there’s some awesome unleaked new IP’s, but that might just be wishful thinking.

I’ve not been this excited for E3 in a very long time. So many rumors and speculation and confirmed games that are sure to knocks everyone’s socks off. Next week is gonna be great and I reeeeeeally hope to see ya’ll here on LG so that we can all celebrate the glorious re-announcement of The Last Guardian 😛 Jokes aside, looking forward to sharing the excitement with you guys ^_^

I’m way more interested to see what’s on show this year. I remember last year being utterly disinterested because it was just console stuff. Now there’s a dedicated PC presentation, and lots of games are coming to console X or 4 AND PC.

E3 excitement is the reveal trailers, watching executives and marketing people on a stage get a stiffy about their own products and BS is not exciting to watch.
Will definitely not stay up late to watch live, will watch the highlight on lagz following day over lunch.
