You may have noticed the dearth of noteworthy games being released this month, or indeed next month. We’re in that slump. That changes a bit in September with the local release of the Xbox One, and of course, Destiny. Then in October, everything goes balmy. Just about every game you’re waiting for this year is out in that one little month. With the price of games and the time investment, we’re all going to be forced to ignore a few for now. Which ones will be taking the backseat?
If you’re blissfully unaware, the schedule for October is madness. Take a look.
October 3: Super Smash Bros. (3DS)
October 7: Alien: Isolation, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, NBA 2k15, NBA Live 15
October 10: Dragon Age: Inquisition, Driveclub
October 17: Borderlands: The Presequel, Raven’s Cry
October 21: Evolve
October 24: Battlefield Hardline, Evolve, Fantasia: Music Evolved, Just Dance 2015, The Evil Within, Civilization: Beyond Earth, Fantasy Life
October 28: Assassin’s Creed Unity, Sunset Overdrive
October 31: WWE 2K15, Lords of the Fallen
Bayonetta 2 and Project Spark will also be coming in October.
I’ve decided to give Dragon Age: Inquisition a skip; not because of EA’s policies or anything quite like that. Rather, it’s something I’d love to play in my own time when I have time off. Seems like a perfect December game to me. The sports stuff? Yeah, I can skip that too. Same goes for the dancing.
That is, quite frankly, too many awesome games in too short a time. It means that something has to be ignored for now. Which games will you be ignoring, and which will you be getting on day 1?

The only game I’m really willing to buy day one will be Evolve. It seems like all kinds of fun and that will keep me playing for a month or two at least, giving the other games some time to drop in price!
Edit: MMmm, Lords of the Fallen may be a problem. I’m keeping an eye on that game. It has the potential to be awesome!

But if Destiny is as good and gives me the hours of fun as the Alpha did, then yeah I can skip all of them and just wait till December or even next year…. Oh and Fifa 15 for me, so between that and Destiny I think my hours for gaming will be covered for a while!!!

Comparing consoles to a disability? Classy hey. Why do PC crusaders always think they are better and think they have to chime in when someone says he wants a game on a console? I have a console AND a PC – I just prefer some games on my console and some on my PC. Games like DA I prefer to lie in my bed with a controller in my hand – yes I KNOW you can set up your PC in that way but I work on one the WHOLE day and want to get away from it a bit by playing on a console or table top!

Matewis Jubilai
July 11, 2014 at 11:26
Yeah, it’s very stylized and so I suppose it will divide people. I don’t know, I like it – its weird and quirky. I always find it funny how pigs huddle after you with their stupid smiles and sleep by your camp fire if you feed them meat going “YOU FRIEND” “WHERE SUN GO?” “FIRE GOOD!”. That’s one thing though, irrespective of the graphical style, all the animations are wonderfully smooth. That is, its kind of crudely drawn in a sense, but it’s not crudely animated.

Borderlands, Dragon Age, and AC unity.

I’ll get DA, and I’ll wait for reviews on Shadow of Mordor,Lords of the Fallen.
Max I am picking up is 2.
I feel that gaming studios missed an opportuninty to make a lot of money by releasing something before September. Instead now, I will have to read comments from devs saying how the industry is going down, because their game failed to sell. Don’t these people have some kind of research teams, that can explain to them, that if everyone releases in the same month, customers will only buy 1 or 2 at the most.

I do not see the point to get AC Unity on release for PC. Ukak will force me to stop playing it for a month or two and then I lose interest in it. Happened to AC 4 … still did not finish it after the last screw up release.
