FFD: What games are in your holiday backlog?

FFD13122013

The PlayStation 4’s been released in South Africa today – which means some of us have even more games that we just didn’t really have the time to play. Thankfully, we’ve got a break coming up, which mans lots of spare time to play games.

What games, that have been sitting ion your pile of shame, will you be tackling during your year-end break?

Me? I’m mostly going to be spending my time in the Caribbean, playing Assassin’s Creed IV. I’ve put off playing the game, waiting for next-gen, and the wait seems to have been worth it. I also have to finally get to finishing Dead Space 3, and GTA V’s single player…which I’m so close to finishing but just don’t have the time to get to.

I also have an entire Steam catalogue of games I keep picking up in sales and humble Bundles that I’m not sure I’m ever going to play. But I’m sure as hell going to try.

If you’re not going on holiday this year, and are instead taking the time to clear away that backlog, tell us : What games are you playing this holiday?

That’s the one area in the game that was completely useless without a mod. I spent 2 hours trying to find something hidden in those ruins. Nothing. Was a real let down. If it’s the place I’m remembering anyways.

The items in those dead skeletons (the ones with the blue glow to start with) are quite nice. What I do first up is kite the enemy skeletons, get the loot, and RUN.

            December 13, 2013 at 11:48

If you are by the well with the body, you need to go to the right, you will know you are going the right way if you come to a long flight of stairs going up which lead to a little grassy area with a few guys to kill.
If you dont see this, you are going the wrong way and will soon die.

          • ToshZA

            December 13, 2013 at 11:51

For the record, even if you go the right way, you will still soon die.

Skeletons are way to hard initially. should be going up to the castle first.

          • Umar koeksisterRpgFan

            December 13, 2013 at 11:04

Oh I meant that way yes, there are skeletons on the way to the castle, thought he meant that skeletons

          • ToshZA

            December 13, 2013 at 11:08

Oddly enough, I started a game with a Knight with that master key, got into the cliffs area and did better there than with the skeletons.

            December 13, 2013 at 11:08

I chose Pyromancer.. wondering if that was a bad idea!

          • ToshZA

            December 13, 2013 at 11:14

He has the highest stat gain overall, so while a little harder initially he scales well. Knight is for complete noobs like me who just want to be able to tank up the damage a bit. Not that it helps mind you, with that same knight I found a spiral stairwell up in the castle where this super fast Silent Hill looking boss dude just sprinted up to me and 2 shotted me before I could even move. Was like WTF WAS THAT???

          • Unavengedavo(aka. MadeYouLook)

            December 13, 2013 at 11:40

I also went with the Pyromancer. As far as I understand you don’t need to increase intelligence as pyromancy doesn’t scale with it 😛

          • ToshZA

            December 13, 2013 at 11:48

That is what the wiki says, and it also says that Pyro is a good beginner class. 😛

          • Brenz

            December 13, 2013 at 11:52

I went pyromancer, its actually one of the best options for first time playing as the range advantage from spells helps in certain situations and many of the bosses are weak to the spells so it saves your ass in a few points that should be hellishly difficult.

          • ToshZA

            December 13, 2013 at 11:03

Behind the well you will see a path up, just take that route

          • TiMsTeR1033

            December 13, 2013 at 11:04

The well with dead body hanging over it? I been up there eventually get to those chests thats it what i saw!

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

            December 13, 2013 at 11:09

You go up the path, through the town & into a tower – there you go up. If you go down you run into a boss fight that you may want to wait a bit before trying. Once you reach the top you get your first mandatory boss fight, which isn’t that difficult. Eventually you’ll get to a bridge with a dragon on the other side. Then you go under the bridge because the dragon will kick your arse until you’ve leveled up a bit. But make sure you have a bow & a good few arrows & while you’re under the bridge shoot his tail for a while until it falls off, then you get a sweet sword which will last you a good while.

            December 13, 2013 at 11:12

Dude explain I must find this path from firelink shrine I did first part of game. Need to find this way by the well. because tried going up there met dude with all these vases and then go up more and go down then leads to all these chests but that way leads back to grave yard with skeletons. I know how to get to new londo with lift but havent seen any other way to go yet.

From the bonfire at Firelink Shrine you must head up the path & get past the guys who throw the fire vases at you while you’re on the path, then work your way through the town.

You don’t head through the ruins & into the graveyard or down the steps from the bonfire – not yet anyway.

Then have quite a catalogue I wanna get stuck into – still need to finish The Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls on the PS3. Then there’s Hitman Absolution and Splinter Cell Blacklist that I gotta get to.

AND I have this overwhelming urge to play Fallout 3, from the beginning, once more… So yeah, I fully intend on using my 2 weeks of leave to have me some gaming ecstasy! 🙂

Camped on a ledge in a big open area & shot a drunk missile at him every time he entered. They heat seek after a few seconds. It was so funny watching him try to run away from them while swearing at me.

I have 168 games in my Steam library, another 16 in each of my GoG & Origin libraries, 2-3 on UPlay (oh how I HATE that piece of shit), a bunch of other boxed games.

And if I’ve played 10-20% of them to completion, it’s a lot 🙁 I’m terrible at starting a game, often even a good game that I enjoy, and never finishing it because I get distracted by something else.

    That’s just on PC, then there’s my XBox & PS3 collections too……..
