Not too long ago, we completely shocked and dumbfounded you with the news that Pro Evolution Soccer was getting another instalment this year. We’re about to do it again.

There’s going to be a new FIFA this year, guys. Now for some genuine surprise. The revered annual football game is moving to a brand new engine. Well, new for the sports sim that is. Like many of EA’s games, it’ll utilise DICE’s Frostbite – the Battlefield engine that seems to be powering all of EA”s games of late; from Dragon Age to Need for Speed and Mirror’s Edge.

“Frostbite unlocks a whole new world of possibilities for the FIFA franchise and its fans,” said executive producer David Rutter. “We have never been as excited as we are today about the future of football and the experiences we are going to deliver in FIFA 17.”

The new trailer shows the evolution of FIFA’s games and some of the new face tracking, but absolutely nothing about the gameplay. We’ll have to wait until June 12 next week to see what sort of changes the engine shift will bring to FIFA. For a change, the game might even seem new and exciting to those who don’t do deep doves in t its gameplay every year.

EA’s remaining mum on just how the engine will change the game, just saying that “Frostbite delivers authentic, true-to-life action, takes players to new football worlds, and introduces fans to characters full of depth and emotion.”

The game has also been made in conjunction with real life football stars James Rodriguez, Anthony Martial, Eden Hazard, and Marco Reus who are said to have “influenced complete innovation in the action on the pitch.”

FIFA 17 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in North America on September 27 and the rest of the world on September 29.

Its Fifa. The players wear different coloured jerseys every year depending on how much some club paid, and the ball gets kicked around.

Also the only place Liverpool can win anything.

Sounds like Mourinho’s voice. What engine was used prior? Frostbite teamup sounds a good prospect.

Mmmmm. I just hope they fix the passing. Can’t force me to only use through pass to get the ball around the field.

With EA that only means the game will be playable after the second or third patch 🙂
