First playable female Assassin coming to console and PC in January

Aveline

Aveline had her debut on PS Vita – I’m not even going to use my 10-foot feminist pole on that whole “first playable female on handheld” topic. Now, she will be appearing on your console and PC; she’s even making an appearance in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Available for download early next year, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD takes place in 1765. So, it’s still American Revolution time, but she doesn’t just stick around in the North East like Connor did. Aveline travels to New Orleans and even Mayan ruins. Let’s just hope she has more personality than Connor. If you buy the Assassin’s Creed IV Black Season Pass, you get $5 off on Aveline. No wait, that doesn’t sound right. You will get $5 off on Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD. Yup, that’s the thing.

But wait, there’s more Aveline for those playing Assassin’s Creed IV on PlayStation. That’s right, she will be coming back as an older, wiser and just as feisty character for three missions. She’ll be protecting and freezing slaves, and assassinating bad guys. Check out her trailer:

I’m still pissed off that they didn’t make her an ancestor to Desmond. I mean come-on she’s freaking awesome. Django is the male Aveline! And she’s a much better character than Connor could ever hope to be…

Sigh! Connor… why did they gimp you… :*(

I completely agree Jim, regardless of how much we would like to believe that our medium is forward thinking and progressive there’s still the ‘old gaurd’ element lingering that are still holding on to certain stereo types about gamers i.e if a game has a fully dressed female with proportional body parts on the cover the game wont sell (poor Elizabeth)The fact that it took 3 games for femshep to get a cover only to be dropped again in the trilogy release. By far the biggest elephant in the room is Rockstar/Take Two, who are notorious for their depiction of females in their games am I the only one that thinks Catalina would have owned as GTA lead, she looks like Eva Mendes probably more brains than CJ and Claude and as fuckin crazy as Trevor.
