We wish you a merry Friday and a happy new weekend, now let’s get down to this week’s Flamebait Friday Debate.

Xbox Live Gold memberships are about to jump up to $50 a year, and now we also have video games analyst Michael Pachter saying that he reckons that Microsoft are gonna rollout a $100 Platinum service.

Hey… multiplayer gaming is still completely free on PSN, so it comes down to features right? The main question of the day really comes down to this:

If there is going to be a Platinum Xbox Live subscription, what features would get you to fork over $100 (roughly R750).

It would have to ship with a peripheral that would gently cup my balls while I played.

I doubt i would get it. One of the big reasons is the platinum would probably have a bunch of features that are focused to the US market. World wide a lot of the regions get shafted with the content and region restrictions.

I wouldn’t…. but hypothetically speaking if Platinum Xbox Live allowed for:
(a)free downloadable titles (one or two a month of the back catalog),
    (b)early access to release titles,
    (c)dedicated servers,
    (d) free access to Netflix, Hulu, Last.FM or even a Spotify-like app (regardless of where you are in the world),
    (e) Free or even heavily discounted DLC,
    (f) and even free goodies for my avatar, then I would be very tempted.

It would really depend what they are offering for $100, can’t knock till I’ve seen it.

I totally agree on the features part, I am not big on multiplayer games and playing games online but if maybe it gave discounts on DLCs and other XBOX Live marketplace items definitely. As for PSN being free, free is often a synonym for crappy!

Internet TV: Hulu, NBC, Disc, ect. I would easily pay 100/yr for that.

So the primary reason to even have live multiplayer gaming, your not really interested in, and discounts on dlc, i’ll add in downloadable games and avatar items.

So basically you want ms to release a package deal similar to playstation plus correct, your calling psn crappy despite paying for live while not even using the multiplayer or online games much.

So by that logic if ms made online gaming only no other features, free for silver members it would also have to be crappy.

Maybe one day psn will attain the “level of nirvana”,some of you 360 guys seem to make it out to be.

I’d rather have psn’s “crappy” service you 360 owners always call it for free, than be told to pay extra just to use the game multiplayer functions.

You do know that xbox 360 uses the same internet structure as PSN, its peer to peer, one (or more) are the host of the online session while the others are ‘leeches’… so in logic you pay for the same internet that we sony owners get access to for free…

btw can you surf this site on a xbox 360? i really dont know the answer to that…

Aussious you pay for the internet, then you pay for the subscription then you pay for the DLC

btw… i remember when M$ blamed its gamers for the RROD

Nope the Xbox 360 doesn’t have the ability to browse the Internet.

ASSious is a known xbot troll brat, his comments make very little sense, because logic is lost on the Red Ring generation.

    I’m merely saying.
