Forza 3 Vs GT5 Prologue – Some Proper In-Game Comparisons

If there is one thing that, especially as a reviewer, is annoying the hell out of me lately, it’s the fact that you don’t get any decent gameplay screenshots of games anymore. All we are treated to are images with strange angles that you will never see in a game rendered at resolutions far beyond a consoles capability.

Racing games are different though, as they always come with replay functionality and in the case of both Forza and Gran Turismo, the replays don’t look the same as the actual gameplay.

Gameswire.net now have copies of both Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and have done grabbed a significant amount of screengrabs in the same areas on both games so that you can see any differences for yourself.

The verdict? You tell me. Take a look through the link below and then leave a comment and let us know what you think.

The textures on Gran Turismo seem very flat overall, they do know how to get some neat looking car reflections though

WOW. There is a huge difference in the two. The background and even the track surface looks much better in Forza.

That’s not the point. It’s like comparing COD : Modern Warfare 2 with Call of Duty 2 and saying “Wow this looks so much better!” Obviously it’s gonna look better, it’s newer.

Well, lots of people on the internet have been comparing them, with many saying that Prologue is older but still looks better. Hence the comparison.

Well, lots of people on the internet have dressed up as furry animals and done questionable things, does that mean we can expect the same from you?

i don’t know how any one in their right mind could say one looks better than the other. apart from the fairly subtle differences, they are both stunning looking games.
anyway, once you playing the game and speeding around r32* or spoon*… you wont notice 75% of whats on screen.

/flamesuit on(or is that a furry animal costume?)
I have GT5P and the demo of Forza3 running through the same setup, and Forza3 looks crap compared to GT5P. I’m really enjoying both games, but those images in the link are nothing like what I see on my screen. :ninja:

I still don’t get why all PS3 screen captures tend to look so dull, because I am pretty sure it doesn’t look that dull when you are actually playing the game.

I just had my 5 year old daughter do an unbiased comparison.. apparently Forza is better because it looks real. GT is to shiny

    So that’s decided it then I guess…

I am sure both games are going to be great – GT has a long legacy of excellence and with the development time and cost I am sure it will be spectacular and in the same breath Turn 10 deserves kudos for the great leaps they have made with FM3.

What intrigues me most is to see the improvements in physics on both games however. Prologue’s cars felt a little generic and on Forza the understeer on some RWD cars seemed a little excessive whereas a 4WD car with a Forza wing was glued to the road

and how old is GT5 prologue ? come on guys wake up ! release December 13 2007 !
How can you compare a game 2 years older to a new one ?
if you want to compare GT5 to Feroza 2 that’s fine as it was released May 29 2007

GT5 prologue release December 13 2007… now it gets compared to a game 2 years newer… why not compare Halo ODST to Doom

is it not kudos to gt5p/pd for giving forza3 a decent run for its money even though its two years old?
anyway, comparisons of this nature are pointless imo. its only proponents [read fanboy] of each franchise that kick up a fuss.
    both titles are worthy competitors

Just watched the F3 Ferrari at silverstone clip…..less jealous now. looks very bland. Have been playing NFS Shift recently and had lowish hopes, but in comparison to what I just saw it is pretty damn good, much more immersive. I fear the both F3 and GT5 will be a tad sterile. PS3 only BTW :ninja:

There’s something not right with that set up. No way does GT5P look as dull as that. That being said, looks like Forza is being played on dynamic/vivid mode

Gt 5 will be better than forza 3 end of story.
However im still gonna buy forza 3 when it hits bargain bins, i doubt forza 3 is gonna be a smash hit.

There marketing the game wrong, they attacking gt with baseless ridiculous comments instead of talking about their game.

See what happens alot of fanboys thought when xbox got rrod it was all over, but what actually happened, the more people attacked 360s the more owners stuck to them.

If you attack gt with ridiculous comments you’re not gonna have much credibility. Even if Forza 3 is a much better game than gt turn 10 have lost alot of customers forever by their bs statements. Turn 10 will still sell well but i hope all the racing games released this year and people revolting against their bad pr will stunt their progress.
