Forza 5 gets vehicle pack February 4th

Seriously, it's just a fat Enzo

From February 4th, Forza 5 will have a new vehicle pack dubbed the “Smoking Tire” car pack. A total of ten eclectic cars ranging from high end supercars to classic muscle cars. The Smoking Tire is an automotive journalism website, and the car pack is apparently in honour of them. The cars included are listed below. The cars can be purchased separately, or all at once, and are available straight away for purchase with in-game currency.

    • 2013 Abarth Punto Supersport
    • 2000 BMW Z8
    • 1994 Nissan Fairlady Z Version S Twin Turbo
    • 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Ram Air
    • 2011 Ferrari FF
    • 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale
    • 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS
    • 2004 Maserati MC12
    • 1992 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185
    • 1995 Audi RS 2 Avant

A trailer was also released, showing the cars rendered in-game, and damn do they look fine. Some of the standouts being the Maserati MC12, aka a Ferrari Enzo in a mob boss jacket, and the BMW Z8; the lesser known beamer that was in that Bond film once.

While new cars added are all well and good, I can’t help but hear the cries of my fellow car nuts behind the engine noise. They are all crying in unison “Bring back the Nurburgring!” and I can only nod in agreement. If there is something that needs to be added to Forza 5, it’s the Nurburgring. Not just that, but other crowd favourites like Tsukuba Circuit. I can’t tell you how sad I was that I couldn’t let the green hell kill me with it’s undulating German nonsense. In any case, this is a nice choice of cars that is sure to appeal to all different fans.

So let me get this straight…. you using real money to buy these car packs? If so… then whats the point of buying all or most of the cars thats been in Forza 4? Apart from updated graphics ofcourse.

According to Turn Ten, the reason the cars were left out of the initial release (assuming a lot of the courses too) was because the poly count wasn’t high enough, so they are re-releasing them slowly as they finish them.

It would be cool if they released the cars that were already in Forza 4 as free DLC, but i guess the work of having to remodel (as well as aero parts) and get it working within the new physics is too much to warrant giving them out for free.

Such a cool racing game series… That’s been turned into a ‘pay-to-race’ type game. 🙁
