As far as single-player games go, Assassin’s Creed is one of those titles that have a very strong presence in that domain. Sure, it has multiplayer, but have you ever heard someone explain that they were buying one of those games solely for that? In future games however, the single and multiplayer worlds could merge together.
Speaking to GameReactor, lead game designer Jean-Sebastien Decant explained how next-gen consoles had impacted on the way that Ubisoft had designed their games, from graphics through to ideas. "When you start and you don’t even know the specs or what they are going to do you don’t think about that [next-gen consoles] or you’re going to be sick," Decant said.
We thought about next-gen graphics and in order to explore that we used the high-end PCs on the side, and then we continued just what we started with the previous games and build upon that. I think next next-gen is going to be for the next games. The next games are going to be much more on the next-gen side. This one is really on the edge.
Which led to Decant explaining that these games and consoles could create a more socially-intertwined game:
I think we’re going toward a gaming place where the open world will be shared with other players. More and more. Socially speaking, but also maybe multiplayer stuff. And we will have to consider the open world much more like a platform that we could sustain for years.
Like it or not, that’s a very real possibility for the franchise. It’s something that Ubisoft has begun tinkering with in Watch Dogs, and with Assassin’s Creed a key franchise, one we could see more of in future games.

I don’t think you can run around hollowed when playing MP, think you have to be mortal. Was very tricky working out how to join each others games though, took flipping long @bb34932f77501925181973a9b3b9f852:disqus. So true – totally agree! If I want to play online, I’ll play MP or an MMO. Otherwise, if I’m playing SP, then it kinda means I don’t want some sugar-hyped, result-of-steroids kid appearing and stabbing me to death with his Level 10,000 Dagger of Death coz he can play for 16 hours a day (or, worse, he bought it with daddy’s credit card).

I don’t mind that SP are designed with MP in mind there are many examples were it work, Saint Row 3, Rainbow Six LV 2, Ghost Recon series, Borderland but there examples were it fall namely COJ Cartel, all that I say is, It can work if SP and MP is balanced.
