GamePro has rated all the current consoles on the market to help us all decide what to buy this Christmas.
Well can you guess who won by the picture on the side of this article?
Overall the Xbox 360 got a B+ the Wii also received a B+ and the PS3 stuttered home with a C.
The only two thing that the 360 did badly on was innovation and hardware design. Well no complaints here about the hardware design and I agree there is very little true innovation in the box… But what they do do they do well.
The PS3 does badly on innovation, games and price. I think the fact that it is still rating badly on games is the worst possible fact about the PS3.
Then we get the Wii which fails on online play and graphics. No arguments from anyone there…
It only loses out to the 360 for the top crown because people are still unsure about how long the Wii will be entertaining for.
What is scary is that the PS2 actually tied first place with the 360 because it is so cheap and has so many games. Obviously the price of the PS3 is still to high to convince people that they are getting a next gen console and a PS2 for the same price…

No surprises here. I think the PS3 tries to achieve too many things and ends up as jack of all trades but master of none. The Wii & X360 on the contrary are sold as pure gaming consoles to which they stick to nicely.
IMO Sony should have sold the PSX with more fanfare as a multimedia hub and made the PS3 a simple PS2 successor in terms of being a gaming console.
