Gamescom 2010 : Mass Effect 2 Headed to PS3!

44 second read

Me2PS3 During EA’s Gamescom conference they revealed that Bioware’s beloved RPG Space Opera series will finally grace Sony’s HD console.

That’s right folks, the much lauded former Xbox 360 exclusive Mass Effect 2 is headed for the PS3, and will be docking on your SpaceStation 3 in January of next year. We thought it was pretty damned fantastic, awarding it a 10 – one of only a handful of games we’ve given this accolade.

Unfortunately the first game in the series hasn’t been confirmed for a similar port – alienating PS3 owners who haven’t managed to play it. Regardless, it is one of this generation’s finest – and it’d be nice to play through it without swopping discs, eh?

Thanks to lans for the tip.

Trailer after the jump.

I just realised that Mass Effect 1 was made, then Mass Effect 2 was made and will be subsequently ported to the PS3 in a timespan shorter than the GT5 development timespan. Madness.

I believe MS owns published Mass Effect 1. So we will never see it on PS3.

If they’re really clever, they’ll figure out a way to let PS3 peeps import Mass Effect 1 PC saves.

Screw Halo. If Gears of War and Alan Wake go multi plat then i honestly cant imagine why i should not sell my 360. Seriously is there anything left after that?

Mass Effect 2 now on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3? I couldn’t be happier that more people are going to get this game, it’s absolutely stunning and the only game I have ever given a perfect score, because it deserved it.

This was unneiled a while ago, at E3 IIRC Bobby.

Hahahaha, the Mass Effect video at E3 told gave us the ME1 story in a nutshell, so MS can keep it!

Now we just need Limbo, Alan Wake, and maybe Gears of War(I seriously doubt Gears though).

Less reason for me to buy an Xbox….

That’s where the Steam-PS3-PSN partnership could come in handy, allowing PS3 gamers to import from their Steam Mass effect 1 game saves. That would circumvent Microass’s “banal analness”. It would also get me to get Mass Effect 1 on steam, replay the glorious awesomeness and ready myself for another round of ME2.

Strange that PS3 owners are excited since every PS3 owner is also a hardcore PC gamer these days according to the fanboys flinging mud at Xbox “console” exclusives. :ninja:

PC gaming still holds the purest of gaming experiences.

Don’t get me wrong I enjoy my consoles, there’s freedom in lying on my beanbag and having a wireless controller in my hand, while I’m playing WWE Smackdown vs Raw (poor bliss), but there are things the consoles are unable to deliver. I enjoy RTS’s, Simulation games, Football managers and old school dungeon crawlers for instance, games that are packed with stats. You’ll never find these on a console, and if they are ported, they’re dumbed down to the point, where it’s not even worth it.

    You play WWE SvsR?

Since I got starcraft 2 I haven’t switched on my consoles in 2 weeks. I dearly missed RTS’s. Red Alert 3 was my fav rts on console but it’s pale in comparison to SC2. I got a brand new PC + 23″ lcd that can play SC2 on ultra for R6000. Not too bad IMO.

I found some info for you PS3 gamers worried about story continuation from ME1 to ME 2.

According to Ray Myzuka there will be a clever clever introductory system in place but he was Cagey on the details. All the DLC post release will be included. Again he doesnt mention any exclusive DLC but watch this space. There will also be full access to the Cerberus Network and finally he pretty much confirms that Mass Effect has a multi plat future i.e Mass Effect 3 will be on PS3.

    Heres the full interview….http://www.vg247.com/2010/08/18/gamescom-interview-ray-bioware-confirms-intro-content-for-me2-ps3-included-dlc-more/
