Call of Duty Ghosts won’t just have a brand new multiplayer mode when it launches. It’ll have some online cloud support to go with it.

Activision has confirmed at the Microsoft pre-Gamescom event that the next COD game will have dedicated servers all thanks to the power of cloud computing. A new mode was also shown off, called Blitz on a map that was named Chasm.

Look, I’m a huge fan of COD but this Blitz sounds a lot like Rush from BF. I hope that when these two games are released we’ll still be able to tell the difference between the two. Looking forward to hear more on them both though….

I’m gonna keep an eye on this dedicated server business. Public hosted matchmaking is not feasible in this country, especially after a year and the release of the next CoD installment, as you then land up being hosted in Finland or Bosnia or some other strange country. Its horrible. Dedicated servers – proper, efficient, functioning, ranked dedicated servers – would definitely make me rethink my decision not to buy. Definitely will not be buying on day one though.

Now the big question remains: Will MS start hosting Azure servers on local soil?
