Gamescom 2014–Evolve getting an open beta

One of the top titles on show at the Microsoft Gamescom 2014 press conference was Evolve, where we go to see a snippet of a brand new map filled with verticality and some great foliage.

We were treated to a sneak peak into this new map with the Kraken taking on the hunters, and while it looked like the Kraken was about to be taken down he managed to turn the tables and take all the hunters down with some vicious swipes.

Unfortunately that’s all we got to see, but we were told some great news. The Evolve open beta will be coming exclusively to the Xbox One on the 8th of January 2015 with a worldwide launch of the game being set on the 10th of February 2015.

The game is looking great and I think the delay is more a tactical move than a development requirement so expect this game to be perfectly polished next year. One of the more surprising things I noticed was that the game was showcased in an eSports style with two shout casters commentating exactly how things are going.

It would be very interesting to see if there is any way they could turn Evolve into an eSports title.
