Gears of War 2 and Far Cry 2 Leaked. A sad day for gaming.

You know… this is starting to get out of hand.

Just last week I reported that Fallout 3 had already been leaked out onto the internet and now, Far Cry 2 and Gears of War 2 have joined them. The image above is actually from what seems to be a Gamestop manager and is not linked directly to the leaked games. (read more about them below).

How does it feel to know that a whole group of pirate scumbags are already playing the games that you have been waiting for for so long. To make it worse, the leaching bastards didn’t even pay for them.

More after the jump.

What kind of idiot gets a copy of a game and then actually dedicates some of his time to ripping it and uploading it to the internet. It has been reported that Gamestop managers had already received their copies of the game and now this happens. If it isn’t this then it’s game reviewers.

Before we know it, sites like us are only going to receive review copies of games AFTER their release dates to stop idiots like that from getting it out onto the net, either that or they will need to start adding some sort of system and/or unique ID onto review copies to stop people from leaking games.

Interestingly enough, it seems to be the Xbox 360 games leaking and not the PC ones. We all have to stand together and realise that we are only damaging ourselves. If you can’t afford the game then you can’t play it and that’s that.

There is a reason that we don’t all drive Italian sports cars.

  1. Although i also disike piracy, tell me again all you Blu-Ray haters, do you see ANY PS3 rips anywhere?

For that simple reason alone people should be moving to BD technology as the encryption so far has been rock solid.

I was actually thinking about that yesterday as well. There arent any pirated PS3 games due to the size of the blu-rays. Maybe the only way to keep priacy down is for all developers to create huge games. 360 games can span over like, 25 discs lol.

But then no one would want to buy it either… 😀

The Only way to fix this is to use Digital Distribution
I reckon we will see it in the next generation of consoles

Actually i don’t think it’s the size at all. I think it has more to do with better encryption (which can always be broken), the fact that BD writers are very expensive as are the empty discs, and the fact that the PS3 hasn’t been hacked yet.

It won’t last forever but this is the longest i have seen a console go without being cracked.

Simple reason why the PS3 isn’t pirated is because NO ONE HAS A BLU-RAY WRITER! the simple fact is that pirates are people that are mean, cheap and hateful… So I bet they aint gonna spend R3000+ to sell ps3 writed games, and the fact that a blu-ray disk costs like R120 a pop, that means the pirates will be forced to sell the games @ like R300-R400 to make there money back.

With more games coming out that consume close to 40gig’s of data on the ps3, I bet that people will think twice about dl’ing it, as even if they pay R10 a gig, that R400 you need to spend on data costs, so why not buy the original game?

erm… rock solid? The AACS was cracked beginning of last year and BD+ was cracked earlier this year 😉

I think its just like Nick said, the sheer size is why its not on the internet yet.

Have Xbox Live arcade games been pirated? As far as I know it’s not possible.
I definitely think DD will help because if you use DD, then you have an internet connection. If you have an internet connection, then the developers can program the game to verify the cd key @ the servers each time the game starts.
But the hackers will probably figure this out as well 🙄

Lol, i think the reason it hasn’t been hacked yet is there isn’t anything on LIVE worth hacking. That and the fact that the titles are very cheap anyway.

If it becomes mainstream then the hacks will come out.

thay can’t really blame people if games starts off in the R700 + region..

these games where developed over several years so the currency markets should not have such a huge impact on them.

Yeah great idea, lets all pirate games, geeze I’m sure the industry will do just fine when no one actually pays for the games, hell the developers don’t need salaries, they just do it cause they love it right. Anyway’s they are all overpaid anyway. i wouldn’t want to go and actually pay for a game, there buy injecting money into developers that they could then use to better their tech for the next game they make, that would be stupid, who wants better games. Oh and of course it’s their fault as well that we are approaching a recession and the price of games has to increase.
Thanks for putting some thought into your comment Bunnyfight.

Are you saying if a game starts developement in 2004 and releases in 2009 it should retail for the same price games were in 2004. I would have thought that game prices would be dictated buy when the game actually hits shelves, as its the shipping frieghting etc that adds cost for us.

Actualy, it can’t be hacked since each game is assigned to your console serial number. If you get a new console, you must migrate your games through xbox support and you can only do this once per year.

“Lol, i think the reason it hasn’t been hacked yet is there isn’t anything on LIVE worth hacking”
C’mon Banana, is that statement realy neccesary? Do you realy think there is nothing worthy on XBL arcade? That was quite an ignorant statement.

I think you missed the point of why piracy is bad. Also, the latest chipped xboxes can play on live.

we’re not crying cuz they can play Gears of War 2 before us, we’re upset that they get to do it WITHOUT paying. So, we’re paying R800 for a game to have the warm fuzzy feeling of playing it month later, seems silly.

ANyway, something really needs to be done to put a stop to this. It’s unfair on the developers who have worked their asses off to bring us some awesome games.

Guess the developers just need to send PS3 copies of these games to reveiwers if its not an exclusive title.
