An actual date for the Gears of War 3 beta is yet to be set but when probed Epic Games’ President, Mark Capps, stated that he expects it to kick off around April or so.
And the reason for it not being sooner actually has nothing to do with Gears of War, Mark wants us in the Beta early enough to really make a difference to the development of the game but at the same time he also wants us to thoroughly enjoy Bulletstorm before he cannibalises all the gamers.
If you forgot since yesterday the Epic edition of Bulletstorm will contain a beta code for Gears of War 3 but be warned the copies are limited so if you just cannot live without being in the beta then I strongly recommend pre-ordering.
And if you feel this is just a massive marketing ploy to milk the consumer for everything they have I would just have to entirely agree with you, but it’s not like the standard edition isn’t a complete title all by itself and you aren’t being forced into the Beta so there isn’t that much to complain about.
