So Gears of War 3 is out… and we kinda like it a lot here at Lazygamer and we already also posted that it is the biggest selling game of 2011 so far.

So the question is… if it’s so damn awesome, then why isn’t it good enough to top the Xbox Live activity charts during it’s debut week. Not to mention that the heavy hitter that it can’t beat came out around a year ago… and that’s like a million billion video game years.

Major Nelson’s official Xbox Live Activity chart shows the week’s most played games on Xbox Live and would you believe that the behemoth that is Gears of War 3 has been beaten out by none other than… Call of Duty: Black Ops?

Well, yeah… it’s not actually that unbelievable that it beat it out, considering that the most recently released Call of Duty game always beats out pretty much everything, with second place usually going to the Call of Duty game from the year before that. Insane that when you look at the list below, Modern Warfare 2 is still sitting in third place, beating out Master Chief and his entourage of tea-baggers.

Here’s the full list of this week’s activity:

Call of Duty 4

Halo 3
NBA 2K11
NCAA Football 12
Fallout: New Vegas
Forza Motorsport 3
Red Dead Redemption
Call of Duty: WaW

Uh yep, that’s right. If you take a close look at the chart, Call of Duty makes up for 4 of the 20 games on the list. Insane… and Activision can’t be too unhappy about that.

Although World at War is sitting right at number 20, Modern Warfare 3 is just around the corner and sure to be welcomed to the party.
