Gears of War 3 – Will we be fighting alongside the locust?

Microsoft have released the first 4 official screens from the upcoming Gears of War 3 and there is something I completely missed in the trailer.

If you take a look at the first screen we can see two Locusts flanking your bunkered position but instead of trying to take you out they appear to be fighting alongside you? Is this a hint that in this story there will be an offshoot Locust clan that doesn’t want to see the entire human race destroyed or is it simply that the locust are far more interested in taking out the lambent mutant locusts and will return to shooting at you as soon as the problem is dealt with?

Can the lambents become such an issue that Gears and Locusts need to band together to survive?

I can’t see anything else new in these screens but the one big improvement that I can see is that with the inclusion of Anya, every character no longer looks like a different coloured freight train.

Hopefully this leads to a bit more flexibility on screen?

Locusts helping you?

I had a quick look at the video and it seems that the first part is Locust vs Gears, but when the monster thing came out of the ground (and grab a locust soldier), everyone turns around and fight it. I do need to watch it again……

I don’t really think that they are fighting alongside each other but as Cliff stated in the interview with Jimmy is that the Lambent are the main enemy in this game.

So less Locust but more variety of lambent definitely.

but if the Lambent are trying to take them both out and are more powerful it only stands to reason they need to work together… I see the queen being a major part in this one..

Damn this hype train has gotten off to a good start

But…haven’t we seen this sort of thing in Halo already? As much as I like Gears if it does become a hippy love circle (with Bishop Tutu guest starring). I might just have to skip it, because they’ll be jumping the shark, and we’re potentially left with lazy writing (Oh no, the lambent are killing the non-infected locusts, let’s join forces, yo!) and inanity a kin to the last chapter in the Matrix. :getlost:

How the hell did you miss that in the trailer? That was the very 1st thing I picked up on.
