It’s a public holiday day today which means we can blow work off and get down to some hard core gaming.
To celebrate this fact Epic has released a brand new ste of maps for Gears of War 2.. Only two problems really.
1. I highly doubt Epic knows that it is a public holiday in SA todayÂ
2. This item is not available from your location
The second problem we can get around with Spl0its funky workaround though.. The only other problem is that the map pack is 800 points which is completely over the top in my opinion. I have played the maps and so far I am a big fan of Gold Rush and Fuel Depo but hate Flood.

Ummmm…if by saying “this item is not available from you location” you mean it cannot be downloaded in South Africa…then I’m afraid you have been mis-informed. I downloaded the Map pack this morning….without the aid of a VPN ‘hack’. That doesn’t mean its going to be available forever…….I’m sure there is a chance the download will be IP blocked in the not too distant future. Get it while its HOT!

I have indeed then been misinformed. I was told earlier this morning that is was blocked… which makes me think that the blocking is coming anytime now.

Yeah, confirmed, you can download the maps locally. I launched my download from the xbox.com marketplace on the web, and it was down when I got home.
Agreed that 800 points is a little steep, but if you work it out, it’s like R30/map They’re certainly high quality maps, almost up to the standard of the shipped maps.
Fuel station – lots of fun, plenty of tight corridors and some open spaces. Shoot the tankers and fuel pumps for MASSIVE DAMAGE (heh).
Flood – Very organic, not like anything you’ve seen before.
Gold rush – My favourite, split level and some tight spaces, should be a blast on Horde.
