We told you there’s be some awesome Gears of War multiplayer news at 3 pm. We weren’t lying.

Epic have revealed that Gears of War 3 will finally be getting a multiplayer beta, meaning all those horrible pervasive issues that spoil the multiplayer can be ironed out before the game actually gets released. Rejoice!

[Update]

CliffyB has also confirmed that the game will be getting dedicated servers. In the past, this has mean an imperfect multiplayer experience for local gamers, but with the imminent local release of Xbox Live and the fantastic online performance of Server-enabled games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 and MAG, I welcome the addition of servers – and the removal of host shotgun.

Don’t get me wrong; I love Gears of War’s multiplayer, but both previous games shipped with broken multiplayer that took months of patching to get right. This time round though, by the time the game eventually gets released (Probably in November next year), the multiplayer should be fine-tuned.

There’s no word on just when the beta will go public, but we’ll wait patiently. We’ve already succumbed to CliffyB’s wrath, and don’t intend on pointing a stick at that beast any time soon.

So happy with the Dedicated Servers option.

Don’t get me wrong, I love playing with Locals, but there’s only so much “Social Annex” I can play, plus if I have to sit there for 15 long ass minutes “Wag’ing net a bietjie vir een ander” one more time, I’ll freak out and go postal.

    I’m all for Dedicated Servers.
