Gears of War 4 is coming next month, and as a pretty big fan of the original games that aren’t suffixed with Judgement, I’m pretty excited. It looks to be going a little back to its rots with more scares and less balls-to-the-all action, and that can only be a good thing.

Gears of War may have been a short game with underdeveloped sacks of meat muscles as its main characters, but it had a certain charm (especially in co-op), and it refined many of the mechanics it lovingly pilfered from Resident Evil 4. The crouching behind conveniently places knee-high cover even influenced an entire generation of similar action games.

This new game features a more diverse cast, and people who don’t look like rubber sacks stuffed with walnuts. They also don’t sounds like their vocal cords have been replaced with cheese graters, so that’s nice. That’s probably enough tangential twaddle though. The game is out next month, and because it’s an Xbox (and PC!) game, it’ll play host to a bunch of achievements. We’ve already detailed what you’ll need to do to get the coveted, nigh impossible “seriously?” achievement this time around – but here’s all the other ones. Don’t stress about spoilers though, because all the story-specific ones have been listed as secrets.
