Get an Xbox One now for R6350 or a PS4 for R5700

The Xbox One still does not have an official South African release date and PlayStation 4’s are still hard to come by in local retailers but we here at Lazygamer have found a way not only to get a Xbox One locally but also to get it cheaper than it will be when it does finally release.

[Update] PS4’s are now out of stock at Amazon, apparently more will arrive tomorrow

[Update 2] It seems we may have jumped the gun, once you add the special shipping it adds the custom duties which pushes the Xbox One up to R7700… now we’re all depressed. Sorry.

If you’ve recently purchased anything from Amazon you may have noticed that they have been pushing their Amazon Global Shipping option quite hard which allows consumers from countries that don’t have their own Amazon store to purchase from the main American site or the UK site.

The nice thing about this service is that they handle the customs, tax and all delivery costs themselves so it really is a one stop shop. Now I’ve used this in the past and it works perfectly but something has recently changed and this is the secret to us getting awesome consoles at rock bottom prices.

If you head on over to Amazon.co.uk now you can see that the Xbox One is currently being sold for £429.00 (R7600) and they deliver to South Africa, but wait this gets better.

If you click this wonderful affiliate link for an Xbox One Console and add that console to your basket you will see the price stays the same. However now click checkout and watch the magic happen. The price drops from R7600 to £357.50 + £11 shipping. That works out to R6325 landing on your doorstep.

But it’s not only the Xbox One that gets the special treatment, if you order the PlayStation 4 with a free copy of Killzone right here, by ordering a Sony PlayStation 4 and Killzone Shadow Fall (PS4) and head to your checkout, the price changes to R5669 landing price. That’s a solid R500 cheaper than our local price.

Now our affiliate links have nothing to do with this magic, we are just trying to get some extra cash in to pay our bills, and eat some food. You can go directly to the site yourself and the same magic will occur.

I’m not sure why Amazon are offering us a cheaper price than the United Kingdom or whether this will continue to work but for all those people still looking for a PlayStation 4 or wanting to get into the Xbox One action then this is easily the best way to go.

You also don’t have to worry about compatibility issues since the United Kingdom uses the same power voltage and TV technology as South Africa.

But he did so much during the struggle, he’s still struggling. He’s struggling to find enough furniture for his Nkandla compound. Remember to give till it hurts come tax season.

But where else are you going to get water from to fight fires for all those thatch roofs and chimneys that are too short? DUH.

A fire hose connected to a water line is completely unacceptable. I mean REALLY now. One can’t also swim in a fire hose. So the fire pool serves a dual purpose. Money saved don’t you know?

It’s a legitimate reason. I keep a small one in a special room in my house, next to the toilet.

Methinks it’s because they’re removing UK VAT from the sale, but SARS will quite cheerfully slap you with a tax bill when the item is delivered. I bought a Thrustmaster HOTAS through Amazon last year, & that’s exactly what happened to me, though it still ended up being R1-2k cheaper than sourcing it locally.
I have heard of people getting away with it though, & SARS sometimes lets some things through without taxing them, but it’s not something you can count on unfortunately.

SARS does not care if Amazon taxed you or not, they take their import duties and taxes either way. So when Amazon keeps their tax, you basically pay double taxes – theirs and ours 🙁

Pre -Ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk. Just make sure you add an extra 79 rand for a plug adapter from UK to SA. Otherwise it’s a great deal.

Another way is to just Google Amazon International, which takes you directly to their website where all products are shipped internationally. This is what I used to get my Xbox One from the USA about below R6000 in December 🙂 Also Amazon’s tax handling is pretty awesome, I wasn’t charged a cent more when it arrived.

I stupidly did the same thing when I brought my original Xbox back from the states back in 2006. Only place that could fix it was one of those dodgey stalls at the fleamarket.

Thinking a simple plug converter would adjust the power difference. D’Oh !!

its very easy to understand. We use 230 V (210 on a bad day from Eskom) and US uses 120 V ;-)~

Any idea what the warranty story is with consoles bought this way? Especially with first wave machines, you don’t want to be stuck with a dud.

I thought Amazon blacklisted South Africa’s postal service (because of all the corruption and packages getting stolen),which meant we have to use a courier service to get amazon goodies into the country.

Nevermind.. saw it’s Amazon UK, not the US one.

Reason the price is reduced is cause Amazon drops UK VAT off the total.. it’s worked like that for years now.

I did this back on 27 November.
I can confirm no extra tax was paid it was all included in the price.
UPS was the company that delivered it straight to my door.
    Goods were in mint condition.

If you want an xbox one get it from amazon
Chances are it will be the cheaper option for a long time

If you have an Xbox One, do you also get the error message ‘sorry Xbox video is not available in your region’? Even trying to play videos from my network doesn’t work, only the sound is heard. This app used to be just fine before the March update.
