Battlefield for free

EA really wants you to like them. No really, they are trying to be likable. And, like a cheap date, they’re giving it away for free. Well, at least they’re giving away another game for free, and this time it’s the beloved Battlefield 3 – just in time for the Battlefield Hardline hype.

If you head on over to Origin, you can grab Battlefield 3 for exactly R0/$0/€0/£0. Yes, the game is completely free for the PC master race. So, all you COD fans who have loyally avoided giving Battlefield any money can give BF3 a shot and see what all the fuss is about. This is not a trial or demo, this is the full game, for life, for free. Just like Plants vs. Zombies became free recently.

Normally priced at R200, the game is totally “On the House” from Origin. However, we don’t know how long this offer will last. So, if you have any interest in playing the game, I recommend heading on over and claiming it. You could always download later, but you might not be able to grab the promotion later.

I have no doubt that EA is trying to build the love for Battlefield again after the much derided flop of a launch of BF4. The game may be totally fixed now, but many gamers still prefer Battlefield 3 simply because it didn’t hurt them like a bad ex-boyfriend. With Battlefield Hardline on the horizon, EA will want gamers as happy and pro-Battlefield as possible. This is certainly a nice way to do it. Everyone loves free games. C’mon guys, let’s all grab the free game and see if Origin’s servers can handle all the traffic.

It’s just the base game, and it’s available until the 3rd of June according to origin.

No thanks. #foreverSP. EA are really pushing hard to make Origin more appealing though.

The fact that they still keep many of their games off Steam and limited to Origin only is but one of the reasons I don’t support EA.
Making a piece of broccoli more appealing by putting cream on it still won’t make me pick it over a nice steak.

The SP campaign is pure eye-candy. Not much story to be amazed until the end, but a far better SP campaign than any COD.

HAHA! Haven’t touched BF3 since BF4 launched. Guess it’s more appealing to those that don’t have BF3 or BF4… Well enjoy, it was (and still is) a good title 🙂

BF3 SP was very cool, BF4 was also good but felt shorter than 3’s. BF4 SP had nice qualities thanks to the new engine… But their focus was more on the MP side and the levelution stuff I’d say. Bugs aside, BF4 is a huge step up. If they just didn’t launch a year early, it would be a more polished release imo.

Well they gave Dead Space away for free a while ago.
Of course it was about a month after they sold it as part of a Humble Bundle so anyone who was going to spend money on it already had.

I wonder if my BF3 will work. I ran into issues getting online in BF3; and never bothered to go back. Maybe I should give it a shot again. I’d probably die just as much as I do in BF4; and I play so rarely that I have many levels to go through yet in BF4 … so … probably not.

Already got it for free when the F’d up SimCity and offered free games to compensate. Only downloaded about 10% and then decided, Nah, stick your free game where the sun don’t shine.
